General Ptsd Sufferer Is Also A Ptsd Supporter...

I have severe disabling PTSD, and my sister, niece, and daughter also have diagnosed PTSD. I can only talk about my experiences, but they cannot afford therapy and medication like I can, because I get disability benefits and they don't. It is difficult to be a father, brother, uncle etc and be a therapist to them as well, which is what I am trying to do.

None of us has had a very strong male role model in our lives and so they look up to me for assistance.I am not sure how best to help them and would appreciate any insight or advise you could give me.

Thanks in advance,
LH

The only thing I can suggest Lionheart, is no matter what happens always, always put yourself first.

Being a supporter is tough going, so a sufferer also having to be a supporter too, well maybe you can x the strength you may need by 1000.

Maybe guide them here, so they can help themselves as much as possible, with you being the guiding light, but not the actual therapist.

If they understand that their bad days, may also be yours too, so you may not be able to support them as and when they need it.

But if you could all learn to share the support around, it may not turn out too bad.

You first, so you can support them.

Thank you Amethist,:)

I do try to put my recovery before everything else, (as selfish as that may sound).
I don't know why it never occurred to me to suggest that they come here.

Thank you for your reply!!!
