Readers thread: what or who are you reading right now?

Recently re-listened to an audio book by Pema Chodron...I love her style and energy. This one was called Making Friends With Your Mind: The Key To Contentment.

Also diving into some cookbooks and un-cook books to find more meal ideas and inspiration, and revisiting two other books that always serve well to remind me why it's good idea to stay inspired.....

Raw Family: A True Story Of Awakening, by Victoria, Igor, Sergei, And Valya Boutenka
Prof. Arnold Ehret's Mucusless Diet Healing System: A Scientific Method of Eating Your Way to Health, annotated, revised, and edited by Prof. Spira
The Vegan Remix: A Soulful Spin On World Cuisine, by Afya Ibomu
The Everything Vegan Slow Cooker Cookbook, by Amy and Justin Snyder
Eat Raw, Eat Well, by Douglas McNish
Live Raw: Raw Food Recipes For Good Health and Timeless Beauty, by Mimi Kirk

I attended an event today where authors brought their new books and met and chatted with attendees. I knew one of these new authors and met a number of others. Bought 4 new books. :-)

I'm currently reading:
Making Rounds with Oscar, David Dosa
Radical Acceptance, Tara Brach
Falling Uphill, Scott Stoll
and I'm still trying to finish the re-read of The Shining, by Stephen King

@Freida Freaking hilarious. They're also fairly genre borderline (her publishers must have been banging their heads on brick walls for a few years) between chick-lit // mysteries // romance // urban-fantasy (not a spoiler, she's the not-so-grim reaper ...and private detective, and a few other part time jobs. Her retired cop dad's bar "Calamity's" was named after her. She gets into and out of trouble rather a lot.). They're a little sexier than the Stephanie Plum books, but not by much. There's about a dozen of them in the series, so far. The author manages to avoid the formulaic thing with long running series in a few pretty dang clever ways, too, which is nice. Mostly, though? Very laugh out loud OMG! :roflmao: in public kind of reading.

I just finished the audio book Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. I liked it even though it had some triggers. It was based on real occurrences, but the book is fiction. It is about Georgia Tan and the Tennessee Children's Home Society. It was set in 1939 and present time, and it it amazing how children were treated.

So many forms of child abuse were acceptable in the past. It was normal to "spank" your child with a weapon, beat them for the crimes of doing child-like things. Children should be seen and not heard. All those insane things were normal.
