Firewatchers

New Here
Hi all. I was suggested this forum by a friend. You can call me Firewatchers. I have DID. I survived extreme sexual abuse and torture by my father as a child. I am feeling very alone in the world right now what with the Epstein files bringing more attention to OEA because I feel like there is nowhere to talk about experiencing and having survived torture unless the torture was organized. I don't even want to necessarily go into the specifics or details of what I experienced. I just want to be able to say it happened and be met with compassion rather than having my experiences minimized because it wasn't "as bad" as someone who survived organized abuse/organized torture. I would love to hear from any and everyone who might be able to relate to feeling even more unseen with the release of the files than they did before.

Would you be able to direct me to that thread?
Sorry, I don't know how to share a thread. But @Survivor3 tagged you in it.
It is called something like "how are you coping with the Epstein news".
The OP has explicitly said it isn't a political debate thread and is a place so share feelings. I've fallen in to the political debate and have been reminded by the moderators about the remit of the thread, just as an 'fyi'.
I hope it helps. You'll see that a lot of us have feelings about it given our various experiences.

I am so sorry to hear you had to endure SA and torture from the person who was supposed to love and nurture you. That is so wrong, and your dad deserves to be in prison. It's clear from learning about JE that far too many are willing to label victims "crazy". I guess it's easier for them to live in a world where victims are crazy than to accept that society allows men to do this to women and children. These crimes were not committed by homeless people in alleyways but by the people at the very pinnacle of power and influence in the world. To me, that shows the degree to which societies have willfully closed their eyes to these depraved forms of violence. You deserved so much better.

Thank you for writing this, and I'm sorry we didn't respond sooner. We have been a bit overwhelmed with the sheer mass of information on the website.

I do want to say, I am not a woman. I do not believe that these abuses are only or even mostly committed by men unto women--I believe that much of the abuse which is not perpetrated by men against women remains under- and unreported for fear of victim-blaming. But I do agree with the rest of your statement.

For those with more experience on this website, how might I add a signature to the bottom of my posts? I've seen that it's possible but can't find the option in my settings.
