No worries. It happens to combine three of my main areas of study from my youth: English literature, Latin and war.

With regard to the other thing...I don't actually know what to say. Nothing I can think of seems quite adequate. I'm enormously touched. Today of all days, I mean...I never thought about it in terms of myself. That's kind of knocked my brain a bit squiffy!

My daughter wrote a poem about Remembrance day and recited at school asembly. My son is in the army and spent most of last night polishing his brass and ironing his uniform for a ceremony he was involved in today. He wouldn't let me come though, but I am proud of him just the same. Can't say I know how it affected my exhusband, and today I don't really care.

In Canada we also have Rememberance Day, but I would like to add that I also have a special thought for those who fought and died as resistance forces to help the soldiers. My father's side of the family all participated, even him as a pre-teen would spy on Germans. Both sides of my family were victimes of both World Wars and have been heavily affected by them. They have met some very brave soldiers who helped them during those years - my most humble respects for all these people.

Thankyou. I've just arrived home from work and am having a hot chocolate to help me sleep.

I've been thinking about some of my friends who left the Army with PTSD or with bits missing. I want to apologise to them for not being able to march today, you know?

Anyway. I've hijacked this thread for far too long, which is really pretty shameful, given the subject of it, so I'll shut up now.

Me too. I wear my poppy with pride. So proud of all the men and women who sacrifice themselves for our freedom and protection. Some paying the ultimate sacrifice. Never forgotten.

My Grandpa's were both veterans of World War II. One of the Korean War and was a career officer in the Navy. Doing genealogy, I've discovered we have quite a few veterans from previous years.
