The basic quote function has been an ever going issue with people using it to quote / reply to a post, using the entire posts content as a precursor to their reply.
That has now changed. By default, if you click the reply / quote it will strip the content to 150 characters, for those who don't want to use the username tagging to refer to a person by name.
Highlight to quote still works correctly, and allow you to highlight the specific parts only that you want to quote. The multi-quote also works correctly, and those on touch devices will have to use the multi-quote if they want to quote an entire post, then break it down to edit piece by piece.
This way, we remove a huge issue from staff, whilst really giving members no room for excuse, in that if you use the multi-quote to quote the entire content, you can't say you didn't do it deliberately if quoting the whole content with no purpose, as you have to push the link to put it into the multi-quote system, then another to approve it into the reply field. Very deliberate actions versus a feature that is used without thought.
So when you hit quote and 150 characters only appear, that is why. Highlight to quote specifics parts, or use the multi-quote if on a touch device, otherwise username tagging.
Removing duplicate content as much as possible helps readers and the community overall.
