Rewind Technique

Hi guys, a friend (who has had training) has suggested I try rewind technique. Anybody have any experience of this? She said I'm way to anxious to do it yet so need to work on relaxation first. Me and relaxation just don't go together, I have exercises to do everyday from now on to try to get me to a point stable enough to try it.

Grateful for any experiences of rewind technique, advice, resources etc

Thanks

Rewind technique, never heard of it. I'll have to research it as I'm always curious about new things. If you decide to do it I hope you have a good outcome.

I've done things that are similar but it did not involve re-living the trauma.

I think this can be dangerous for some.

I'm not sure what the point of re-living trauma is?

Just the thought of doing that is kinda making me sick!

I won't do this. Like EveHarrington says, it can be dangerous.
I think there are other methods that can help you more to learn techniques to cope with your trauma...

I've never heard the term, but, reading at the link, my T talks about something like this. He uses it sometimes, with some people, but not as a "do-it-yourself" deal, as something he'd do in his office. The idea is that traumatic memories are experienced as if they are happening NOW and this technique can help you learn to experience them as something that happened "then" and they revert to being a more normal, less charged, kind of memory.

The reason he hasn't done this with me,......Is basically that I seem to be too hyper-vigilant to dissociate. For a person that had the opposite problem, I can see where you definitely would want someone around to guide your "trip". About all we've done is talk about it. What it means, how it might work, what he'd hope to accomplish. For reasons I don't get, the very idea of being able to "watch myself" is kind of disturbing. And, maybe, that's a "thing" all by itself.

Anyway, heard of it, but not by that name. Apparently it's a real thing, apparently it can be helpful, but I'm not sure it's something you'd want to try on your own.

Reading what shimmerz posted, I don't think it's something I'd want to do. I don't dissociate as a rule, It's only happened to me 2 or 3 times in 35 years. It was NOT a pleasant experience so I wouldn't want to trigger myself to do that again.

Ah sorry guys I didn't word that very well, I meant she would try it on me rather than me doing it alone. I can't find much on the net about it except for a few professionals who do it and in some respects if they're trying to sell it maybe they are biased towards it so you get all the pros & not the potential drawbacks. Thanks for the input

For what it's worth, I trust my T and, if we can figure out a way I can actually do it, I'll try doing it. Just kind of stuck on how to manage to make it work for me.
