RIP to the five Australians who gave their lives in Afghanistan today. Three were shot in the back by a supposed to be Afghan soldier and two died in helo landing.

He did not even let them see it coming. Arseholes.

If you felt insecure before living in a FOB, you would certainly not feel safe now.

Apparently there have been something like 37 green on blue deaths over there, Australia has had 6 of them.

I did the military transition/training team in iraq for a year. The threat was always there...we were lucky and it didn't happen. It was stressful beyond belief and is one reason I have PTSD. Everytime I read about in Afghaniston I get completely pissed off! I mean f*ckin pissed!

It's a difficult situation. Wherever we go in this world people place a different value on life. For them it means nothing. I was talking to a good mate who was over there recently where the boys that died were, he said the language barrier alone can cause an upset. Say the wrong thing and bam, you could offend someone.

I was part of a training team in East Timor. We were unarmed. I had a good old colt six shooter put to my head because I would not start the captains generator for him. f*cked up hey. I can still see the hollow point rounds if I concentrate hard enough. lol.
