Relationship Sad And Confused

I don't really know how to type this. My guy and I had yet another "talk" today. He gave me the I love you, I want you in my life for as long as you will have me speech. But in the same breath said he didn't see us as having a future together, and that he would understand if I found someone new. He assures me that he has nobody else and is not looking for anyone else. I'm sorry, i'm just lost. Any words of wisdom?

He may not be able to envision a future for himself, so how could he envision one with you in it, +/or providing for you?

I honestly don't know. In the last talk we had, he told me he was going to concentrate on helping himself, I was encouraging, never pushed anything. Tonight he said he came to realization that we could not be together, the main problem is my ex husband. He is fighting me taking my 7 yr old out of the country. My guy says he (the ex) will never let it happen and we need to realize this. But yet my guy wants me in his life still and doesn't want things to change, other than my believing that we will be together.
