Today I went to the gym and I noticed things seemed super bright. Almost overwhelming.

I did leave early because I panicked not to much but just enough to scare me well I got home and started watching TV and went into my mind and fears.

I started getting scared that I'll forget who I am name and all then I went into my odd thoughts like how amazing it is that naturally we just learn our own names or others and that's what we go by.

I started watching more TV and I had a lamp on in the corner of my room and I noticed shadow in the wall and I felt concerned at why the light was so bright.

I actually asked my spouse if they noticed it and once again noone noticed the difference in the lighting except me.

Should I be concerned or is this normal for dpdr?

It’s super normal for anxiety.

What I would SUSPECT is happening is that you’re having an anxiety attack... and since you aren’t getting that managed down, you’re being flooded with dissociation, instead. Essentially penduluming from one extreme to the other. Then, just going after the disassociation? The anxiety is coming back out/being uncovered. But it’s still not being managed, so you zone out, again. Rinse lather repeat.

Disassociation is a reeeeally common coping mechanism for stress, anxiety, & panic. So I’d be willing to lay money on if you backed up a few steps and started managing your anxiety before it got so out of hand as to be experience sensitivity to light/noise/movement? Or once you notice you are overly sensitive, take some time and back the response down? That you’d experience a lot fewer/more easily handled dissociative episodes.

Think of it like screaming every time you hit your hand with a hammer. Instead of working on not screaming? Or muffling the noise, somehow, so the neighbors stop complaining? Back up a step and stop hitting your hand with a hammer.

Do you have any ways to manage or cops better outside of meds?

I work out and I do try to do more things than just sit around.

I have to admit though I was on a really good diet and recently I seem to have fallen back into a couple old eating habits should I return to my diet is there anyway that could be affecting what's going on?

Or possibly the reason it's returned

Hiya. I've suffered from over sensitivity alot. Light/movement etc. It's quite common with stress/anxiety/ptsd. I don't have any advice but just wanted to mention that your not alone with those things. All the best to you. S3
