Scents for Grounding

Depends on what I’m trying to ground out from... and what I’ve associated with what scents.

- Cooking spices are warmth and home, laughter and sanctuary... ras el hanout, Garam masala, chunky chat masala, lemon sugar, lavender, lime, fresh herbs, bourbon vanilla, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cardamon, fresh cracked pepper, fire roasted peppers, ginger garlic paste, fresh coriander, applewood smoke, alder smoke.

Along the same lines... Meat searing and bread baking are other “Nothing important happening here” kinds of scents.

- Coconut sunscreen, by itself or mingled with chlorine or saltwater, rising sun soaked off my skin = lazy days of summer.

- Saddlesoap, leather, horses, hay, alfalfa, grains, & wood = centering purposeful balance all good things.

- CLP, cordite, hot metal = pay attention, alert & aware, shit just got serious.

- Different perfumes for different tasks & different moods

- Sandalwood & Sandalwood incense = be here now & home

- Ditto spicy Jasmine, lemony Star Magnolia, sun drenched grass, cold salt air over hot sand, freeze your nose hairs brilliant cold snowy air, sex wax in the heat, gortex in cold

...along with about a zillion others. All scents that have meaning and purpose attached/associated with them.

And then there’s always camphor. Nothing knocks out the scent of death like camphor. I carry a little jar of it with me everywhere.
