General Seeing Things In The Dark

About Eleven days ago the expansion for the game that DH and I play came out. It's basically lvl's you from 70-80 but they also included a new race: Death Knight. My DH broke down a few nights after we bought it and told me he sees something that looks like that in the dark sometimes.
It freaks me out. What do I say to him? Do I tell him what I tell my 3 year old, " I'm here to keep you safe, nothing is going to hurt you...monsters arn't real". I'm stuck on this one. All I did was listen but I felt he wanted something more. He asked me if I thought he was crazy or that he had multiple personality.

I am so baffled. Is this a manifestation of pain? Any insight on this would be nice.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't know what he wants. Please ask him directly.

I think that if you had said what you say to your three year old, it would be a good start also.

I don't reckon your husband is crazy or has multiple personality, since hallucinations can be a symptom of PTSD. My girlfriend, who is diagnosed with severe PTSD, has had visual hallucinations in the past, seen some really weird shit. Some related to her trauma, other stuff totally random. There's even a poll about it: [DLMURL]http://www.ptsdforum.org/thread5025.html[/DLMURL]. If you notice, many people voted yes to hallucinations. Hallucinations are possible if the PTSD is really severe. Intense flashbacks can sometimes cause visual hallucinations too.

Very infrequently, but if I'm really stressed out (and low lighting wouln't help) I think I "see" something- like a dead animal or something, - it (thankfully) usually turns out to be nothing- bark, or something, but my emotions get to the conclusion before my "frontal lobe" does.

-Like waking up in the night & seeing "something"- a shadow, light- but then in a minute you can process it, what's creating it
.
-"Feels" like you just saw what you THOUGHT you saw for a minute or two, though.

I used to play Doom a lot (okay this is a major understatement.) At night, when I'd close my eyes I could see and hear the monsters from the game.

It's called TOO MUCH TIME ON A VIDEO GAME.

I would suggest suggesting to your SO that he limit the amount of time he spends on the game in a day, this will eradicate seeing the characters or monsters when he closes his eyes.

(btw: this is very common when you have your eyes glued to a video game for too long)
