Ok, I've pretty much had zero time to even look at this sites upgrade, until now. I've put this site off due to the complexity of the upgrade being performed, which is more in relation to all the customisations this forum contains. There are lots... to say the least.
Trying to find a single 24hr block to get this site upgrade, IMO, will be near impossible, as I actually believe it will take me longer than 24hrs. So, my solution is pretty simple. I will upgrade the site to a basic functional level, without all the additional features and such, then add feature by feature back, testing as I go to ensure nothing is breaking elsewhere.
Whilst this is the longer route, I believe it will be the more beneficial, as members will have their input throughout the process if any issues occur anywhere.
So what will be the basics? Easy... the basics are the forum software, all the anti-spam / fraud type software that runs behind the scenes that keeps the forum clean from spam and such overall, the anonymous area and chat. That is the basics.
This will give members time to provide feedback, issues and errors on each part, ask questions, learn new features and so forth, before the next area is complete.
This means that things will appear, disappear, be viewable but not necessarily available and so forth, during the process, as this method allows the forum to be open and available nearly the entire time, with extremely little overall down-time. Maybe an hour or two down-time whilst the main software is updated, otherwise it will be open and can post during the rest.
This also takes a lot of pressure off of me for pushing through a straight block of time, and allowing me plenty of time to keep adjusting and releasing features. There are some facets that just aren't ready yet and will be installed in the coming months, others are ready.
So... it is coming sooner than you may expect now.
