I'm thrilled that this widow will receive money needed to support her children. But there are several facts that never made it to this story: The Swat team were supposed to be after this fellow's brother, but went to the wrong address. There WERE children in the house, two young toddlers, but the Swat team blasted away.

Mr. Guerena, placed himself between the Swat team and his family, with an AR-15 ACROSS his chest and not aimed at anyone. The safety to the weapon in on safe.

There is growing concern, among Police officers themselves that our police forces are leaning more toward "military-style" tactics against civilians.

Life realy sucks, Protecting his family, none criminal and didn`t raise his weapon!

What the f*ck were they shooting at besides a fish in a barrel. 70+ shots? f*ck me they have obviously never hear of restraint

IMHO, you Vets out there should Mobilise and show the wankers how to do it properly.

This is one of those times I realy do hope that each on of those law enforcers gets PTSD and rots in hell where us Airborne can tear them a new arse.

I have a permit to carry. I won't carry anymore not for fear of criminals but for the fact that the police will shoot first just knowing that I'm armed, even if it's legally. Too many f*cking laws and no justice, sound familiar?

".......that our police forces are leaning more toward military-style tactics....." Are you kidding me?????? I watched the tape, and there was nothing military about what those guys did. If the guy inside would have opened up when they popped the door most of them would have been hit.

My point is simply this. They're not capable of taking care of themselves, much less civilians they're hired to protect. And, our streets aren't safe. Geeeeee, go figure.

OK, perhaps I'm not understanding your statement. You don't think that the police are adopting military type tactics? I see, police in military utilities, with helmets, assault rifles using military tactics to storm a house. Sure seems like military tactics to me. Used to get stopped by a cop and there were one or two in one car, now four cars show up with 12 guys, pull you from your car and stand on you to cuff you before they even ask a question. Just sayin', the last part happened to me during a 'routine' stop and the first part is becoming standard field tactics. If I had a gun on me I'd be dead. So, am I missing something here?????????????????

Cops even train with our military sometimes. I can think of several times military advisers were used in law enforcement situations.
The use of tanks, apc's, military psyops, Military grade cs dispensed through tanks. All for a weapon violation. The military operated the armor and advised on the tactics used for the attack on the compound. over 50 people died most of them children. And no one from our government was charged with anything.
Ruby ridge.. The sniper who killed a unarmed woman who was holding a child at the time of he killing was reassigned and later promoted. Again there is no real outcry from anyone.
Our police over reacts all the time and little is done. The police have the attitude of us vs them. They consider the very people they are charged to protect their adversaries. There is no reason for a police force to have fully automatic weapons. But surprise, they have belt fed machine guns in their weapon stocks. Why? How can they account for the legal ramifications of being held accountable for every round fired from a machine gun for probable cause?

Jar, I think what SD was saying is that if they were using military tactics, they were doing a damned piss-poor job of it. And SD is right, if it were modern day warfare, half those cops would be laid out on the concrete. He would have shot through the door after the first indication, if indeed he were a bad guy.

And to Red's comments, this whole escalation in military style weapons and actions started back when those two guys robbed a bank in Calif. and kept a whole Police Department at bay with a couple of full auto AKs. What, was that back in the seventies or eighties, Jar? Anyway, they had a chopper overhead and through the whole thing and it sent a shock wave across this country.

Over the years, I've had various friends that were in police or security jobs and they painted a picture of what was going on in our police. The police were, to cut to the chase scared. So they started grabbing up surplus military arms and equipment. More full auto on TV, amp it up more.

I can't blame them to a certain extent, facing down a bad guy with a full auto with just a sidearm?

But these days, I believe they tend to over do it and call the swat team when it is not needed. But the inexcusable fact they had the wrong guy, wrong address and just riddled the place. Why did no one lose their job over it? Why wasn't there at least a manslaughter charge filed? They have joined instant, deadly force with lack of accountability, not a good mix, IMO.

Thank you Sarg, and you're spot on.

All the SWAT team members were lined up in front of the door, and no one was covering anyone. Hell, two of the guys had their rifles slung on their shoulders, and kept them slung during the entire incident.

The guy who popped the door immediately turned his back as he door swung open. It's really hard to identify a target and fire effectively with you back turned.

One of the guys with the slung rifle actually walked up to the door and peaked in while the others were firing. What military training was he using with that move?

Those cops had no idea what in the hell they were doing. They didn't assess and cover the area. They didn't properly identify the target. There was no one in charge. They paniced, and over reacted.

And, you're right Jar. They over react far too often. We live in a world where common sense and courage are replaced by fear and paranoia. And, those in charge like it just the way it is. How sad it's all become.

Excellent statement SD. Guess it's one of those things that really gets my shorts in a twist. Back in the hippy days, I had long hair and a van. I can't tell you how often I got stopped by the cops for a 'routine search'.

There's a fine line between protection and invasion of ones privacy. People who say if you have done nothing wrong you have nothing to fear have never looked down the barrel of a cop's gun or been locked up. America is a land of self involved, complacent people. People will bitch about something for a minute and then, it's on to the next tweet.

Sometime it makes me feel like I've live far too long.

Jar

P.S. Sorry if I miss understood your original post SD.

I read about this and watched the police video. It all happened because one of his relatives was a suspected marijuana dealer. They could have easily stopped him as he was leaving his 3rd shift job at the copper mine and executed a search warrant at his residence. But instead they decided a commando style assault on a sleeping war veterans house was a better idea. It seems to me that they wanted someone to kill.

We just had a recent situation here in NJ. A young man, hell bent on killing himself, enters a major department store and begins his mission by shooting out a security camera. When the dust settled settled he took his own life in the basement of the store.

Now, to witness the response by LE to this tragic situation was (which IMHO) so absurd that it went beyond belief. The estimate was about 150 emergency vehicles responded, state, local, FBI,and sheriff's department, in a fashion that even a rookie PO would not consider. The clip below toward the end I'm sure is being studied by those who wish society harm for future reference. Any idiot with a RPG, if he waited long enough, could have wiped out 70 % of Bergen County emergency response force. This goes on everyday without fore thought whether or not it is a setup.

They are taking notes!
