Sudden Mood Swing

I am suddenly agitated, angry, sad. I have been hitting myself, especially in the head. It helps a little, it's calming.
I have no idea why.

I chewed out my guy for something stupid, I have told him I am sorry and I need to isolate from him. He's flipping out and feeling abandoned over that, having a borderline reaction, and I can't help him. I need to leave him alone so I don't lash out.

I'm sorry you are going through this.
Has this happened before? Try doing something that calms you down, like reading a book, listening to some music, watching a tv show, or something.
And remember, this is the current feeling, it will pass soon. Sending some warm hugs

Also, the hitting yourself is a form of self harm, I guess, which also releases endorphine? Maybe that is why you feel better?

I hope you are able to find a calming technique for yourself. And that you are are able to discuss/have a healthy conflict resolution with your significant other after everything calms down and both of y'all have clearer points of view. Best of luck.

I can't really control my mood swings, they just happen, and take over me? The only positive thing about them is, that when I lose my temper, I seem to calm down a lot quicker than I used to?

Sounds daft I know, but years ago it would take me a lot longer to calm down, maybe it's an age thing, but what ever it is, I'm glad it's different now.

The only down side is, I tend to just lash out and say what's on my mind, regardless of the possible outcome and consequences?

Luckily though, I am not often in the company of other people, as I tend to keep myself to myself, so I don't lose my temper much these days, well, with other people that is.

I still lose my temper of other things, but that's mostly caused by frustration!

Whats helped me, if i can catch it fast enough i got from an anxiety app. There are many free ones out there.

I control my breathing, making sure im not holding my breath but also make sure im breathing deeper and slower.

And then, i know this sounds stupid but it works for me anyway, i imagine myself floating on my back on water. Once ive got that imagine it fully, all of my anxiety fades pretty fast.

Now i do have to catch it before im exploding but im sure it can help better than hitting your head, tho i get it.

Be well my friend! ;)
