I relate to your experiences quite strongly. I may be significantly younger but if you'd like I'd be happy to chat with you sometime about how I personally was able to unveil and confront the innumerable horrors of my childhood. Everyone has a different process, but there are techniques that usually help. Getting some form of professional help, whatever it may be can help to grant you some personal security and hope. Don't run and rush to confront your past, take it in your own time, thats the only way we can truly heal.

Too late.

Wow was I not expecting this mad rush of memories.

Been in the room now, came out stronger but scared myself in the process. ei

Hello laurie71 and welcome to the forum.

I was 42 when I had a breakdown and was diagnosed with PTSD. I like you had blocked out the trauma of the past, the physical, mental and sexual abuse. It was a hard time and I was hospitalized for a long time.

I really do sympathize with you and what you are going through now. It is good that you have found the forum, as you will get a lot of support and advice from the members. It is important that you look after yourself first and try not to feel bad or guilty for not being there for your family.

(((Laurie71))) Praying for peace and calm to come over you during the bad times. Admitting the truth, and getting help, will make you a better father and person. It is too bad that these things hit us when we think life should be getting better. But, better now than later.

I didn't start serious therapy until about 12 years ago. Lived in misery all that time. I am 56.

Good luck and God bless. It is NOT your fault!!!

I know what it's like to be aware & how scary that can be but w/ the help of others & time & education, proper food, supplements, etc., the scary parts become less & less & the healing parts become more & more a part of us. I think people are not diagnosed w/ PTSD for a long time but when they are, it's very helpful, b/c then professionals will not treat each symptom alone but group them under PTSD & be understanding. Besides counseling, EMDR helped me & made a difference.

I sent some the following info. to someone else but I think it will help you as well. There is so much need in your life for human underanding & compassion & love & healing. Try to take one day at a time. There is a supplement that is key in helping your health & it is ADRENAL CORTEX...I take 500 mg. w/ a meal in the AM or a middle of the day meal & 500 mg. w/ my supper meal. This seems right for me & what I found online for dosage, you of course, can decide what to do after your research. I also take the MULTI-GLAND supplement & the LICORICE capsules ...all of these support the adrenals, but without the ADRENAL CORTEX, I'm sunk & I think it is the key even if someone is taking other supplements at the time. The PITUITARY along w/ the ADRENAL CORTEX gives it more power as well.

You can find all of these supplements on vitacost at great discounts when & if someone can help you! I also take natural supplements for my brain/memory but I can tell you that none of the other supplements take the place or do the job of the ADRENAL CORTEX. It's just like if someone has a thyroid problem & they are taking good supplements but there's no real change in the thyroid, then taking ARMOUR THYROID is a good choice. Jasmin Cori's book "Healing from Trauma" has really blessed me & especially, Michele Rosenthal & Dr. Ochberg is also also helpful & any videos from these people on youtube.

Oh, btw, just in case you're eating any wheat products ...they are the worse thing to eat! They have 50% more gluten than many years ago & gluten causes health problems. You might enjoy Mike Adams in your email to keep you up-to-date on health matters or Dr. Mercola. Consider gluten-free pasta & bread (UDI's is a good brand for the bread)

Hope this helps.
