I've read a fair amount about it plus a lot of the posts on here about EMDR and was detecting a theme -- not such a great idea if you've had multiple trauma but can work for some.
It's a bit confusing as some people with multiple trauma's have had good results but the risk feels too high for me. At least the risk of targeting the core traumas.
On some level this is the therapists approach too. When I asked her about the risks she told me it was a little more unpredictable in cases of multiple trauma. When I asked about brain damage she said this was not possible at all (whilst looking at me like I was being over the top) that what actually happens is the the treatment shrinks the amygdala.
I haven't looked into that yet so don't know. Do you know about this?
What I do need to do is check if she is registered on the EMDR practitioner site.
I guessed that she would know what she is doing being the clinical director of the institute but her behaviour indicates otherwise:!
