Hi, I was here looking for a way to support a friend when whamo I have found help and comfort for myself already. Briefly I am a former abused child, domestic abuse sufferer and horrific accident survivor. My friend is former Army 20+ yrs with lots of time in the arena. Thank you all for creating and participating in this site.

Hi Besame and welcome to the forum. I have ptsd and so does my husband from child abuse. I an glad you found help and support here already. This site has wonderful People here who have wisdom, and experience to understand and give a hand up. It is nice to meet you.

I am a child of mental abuse from a raging alcoholic father and was bullied for years and years at school for being a redhead. I was not diagnosed with PTSD until I became addicted to narcotics at the age of 32. I am in recovery and been clean for 2 years :) I am now dating a gentleman who has Combat PTSD from serving in Desert Storm in 1990. He is also in recovery from alcohol and has a year sober. I came on this site to learn about his PTSD and how it affects his life and to learn the best things to do and not to do. After reading about how some veterans act with PTSD, I could not believe how each action he did. Thank you for allowing me to tell a small part of my story and I hope I get to learn more from you so our relationship may have a chance...again thank you!
