Whew. I'm so glad there was a non-creepy explanation! Thanks for letting us know you are safe.

Is there anything you can take from thinking this through that will help you feel safer in the future? Or prepared, I'm not sure if safer is the right word.

If I wasn't so relieved, I would feel like an idiot. :wideeyed: @sun seeker, thanks for asking. I will sleep on it but all in all am thrilled tbph about how I was able to think this one through, reach out for help, and recognize that I may have needed to dig for an explanation that was not necessarily what I thought it was. You guys would not have known about the cleaning lady, and to be honest, I would not have remembered her. This experience actually gives me a frame of reference if I ever come across this feeling again, that will allow me to challenge old thoughts. Hugs to you all. Really.

Okay, here is how it all worked out this morning when I got freaked out, thanks to you guys. I am back at my sons, so alone in a house again. I was sitting at the kitchen table and felt a cold draft. Wasn't quite certain I felt it so continued on. Next time I went past the hallway towards the garage I noticed the door to the garage open, so cold air was coming in. Hmmmm. I didn't leave that door open....

Then my head went back to this posting. As my chest tightened and I went back to those same old scripts, 'who did that', 'I am careful with doors', 'how did someone get in' and so on, I recalled the challenging statements you guys made in this post. I closed the door and walked away. I have no idea why the door was open. I will leave it at that. Thanks guys.
