Taking meds prescribed to friend

I've been trying to get in at my Drs about my anxiety getting worse and I can't seem to get an appt. My friend has anti anxiety meds (propranolol) and has given me some and they've actually really helped. If I tell my therapist about this, is there any way that my friend will get in trouble? I know it's not advisable but there is no legality around it, is there?

I just want to state the obvious: meds like propranolol are by prescription only for a reason. A doctor should be monitoring you if you are using them, as they could potentially make extant medical conditions you experience worse. Or, it could be dangerous -- its a blood pressure med and too much could result in a really scary drop in pressure for you.

I think this is the issue you should be considering, not the legality of illegally obtaining this med.

Everything @RainbowSearchParty said.

It is illegal. And yes, both you and your friend would be in trouble for doing it. However you will be fine to discuss this with your therapist as it should be covered under confidentiality.

I would strongly advise you stop taking prescription drugs prescribed to another person without any medical input.
