It's lovely to see your bear Britt. I particularly love his nose. He sort of looks a bit grumpy too (the fur above his eyes look like a furrowed brow), I like that as well. Great present from your hubby, yay.

Oh Britt! He's wonderful! I couldn't be more happy for you. Your hubby gets major points from me for an excellent choice!

Btw, on the subject of weighted blankets: I just got one.

OMG, do they work!!! Along with the blanket, I got a 5-pound neck wrap.

The skinny: when I'm triggered and need to be held, the neck wrap works great. It makes me immediately relax.

For crashes, the blanket is awesome. Curl up under it, it feels incredibly safe and comforting, relaxing my whole body.

My impression is that it's not good for the closterphobic. (sp?)

Pros: relief on call
Cons: price - the neck wrap and 17-pound blanket put me out $165. Sensory Goods is the cheapest I found.

This is such a cute thread!

My teddy was named Isabella when I made her at Teddy Crafters. I was in second or third grade, and I gave her a purple heart of courage. She has gone with me through everything, and if I am having a bad day, I curl up and hug her. She sleeps with me and goes with me whenever I go somewhere overnight. I have had to stitch her up many times over because she's getting old, but I can't "bear" to replace her. I do want to rename her, but I haven't chosen a name yet.

When I was really sick I collected a whole bunch of stuffed bunnies but I favor a stuffed dog named Cuddles and a teddy bear named Christmas Bear now. The bunnies are away now but I cannot sleep without Cuddles or Christmas Bear. They were both bought at significant times in my life; after 9/11 and the death of my sister. They calm me down and let me sleep through the night.

I don't hold my new bear when I go to sleep at night. I have it sitting on my bedside table watching over me. Looking at it brings me some calm and a smile to my heart. I'm so glad I have it.

I have a duck, named duck. He is currently flattened out from the amount of hugging he has got from me, and needs more stuffing. I also have a stuffed giraffe named Ralph. I use one or the other as a pillow, and hug the other one, every night. It makes me feel less alone and vulnerable.

I have the MOST original names for my stuffed friends....

I got "dee-oh-gee" (yes, that's "dog" spelled out!) 15 years ago. He's a bit of a ragamuffin. And yes, he's a stuffed dog.

Last year I found another stuffed friend who has the exact same type of fur as dee-oh-gee, but when he was new. I named him "Bearly". Yes, lol, he's a bear!

So dee-oh-gee and Bearly sleep with me every night. I can't sleep without them. When I used to fly a lot, Dee-oh-gee was always in my carry on. I wasn't going to risk losing him if my checked bag got lost!
