Thanks littlelostchild, I did a bit of googling but they don't come cheaply (over £100 for an adult size blanket) and I'm not talented with sewing. There are quite a few make your own guides for those who can manage a basic needle and thread! I thought it might help for when I get the crazies and want to climb out of my own skin and can't calm down.

I just realized I had a dream last night that my husband bought me a really nasty teddy bear. Can't quite remember it but it came out of a little can. I just remember it wasn't nice at all.

I have been snuggling my teddy bears as a result of this thread and I find it so comforting. Thanks for bringing that required self soothing to my attention. The touch of the teddy bear's soft, soft fur is so silkly and soft. It feels delightful.

Y'all, remember: build-a-bear only de-stuffed and re-stuffed mine. They did NOT (and won't) do the laundering, we had to bring him home for that.
I think I got a bit carried away with the Build-a-bear idea if I'm honest. I don't know if they would re-stuff my elephant, but maybe one day, if he needs it. The UK branches don't seem to have that service for non-Build-a-bear-bears. Don't fancy trying to do it myself, unless it was an emergency situation ! I can't picture him having no stuffing. Makes me feel sad to think about.

I was given a Teddy Bear last Tuesday!

Tell us more, Ms Spock.

I was a teenager in the 80's when Care Bears were in
I suddenly feel a pang of emotion in my heart as I think about my green CareBear. I wonder where he is now, I loved him, and had forgotten about him. I can't even remember which CareBear he actually was, now I think about it. You're correct ClairBear, the power of the fluff is clearly strong.

@Britt: I hope you get a lovely teddy bear for Valentine's, it'll be something to cuddle if you have a rubbish dream like that.

So, it's all about the cuddles then, be it the ones we give to our bears or the ones we get from loved ones (including pets). I do like the idea of self-soothing too Ms Spock, another way to minimise negative feelings. My elephant still smells great, and I haven't needed him too much but now the insomnia and bad sleeping pattern is back I've been using him for comfort to try to sleep. Like Gizmo (that is one of the sweetest things I have ever read, going to sleep holding hands), nothing is as good as a cuddle from my partner, but good to have my elephant on stand by.

Well I went up to see B and I arrived at the airport and he gave me a bear! It was a lovely surprise.

It is about cuddles for me. Self soothing is so important for healing PTSD so I have enjoyed doing it with my bears. It is great that you have an elephant on standby.

My husband picked out the perfect bear. I love him. Both the bear and my husband. ;) Here's a picture of my new bear, I couldn't wait to show all of you!
