I just love this thread. It is so full of wonderful feelings and thoughts and precious little partners for life. It is very warm and cozy. I need to sleep with my bunny again. Mabe tonight. When I do I hang on for dear life. I am just so afraid that my little sneaky dog will take it from me and tear it to pieces while I sleep. What a dilemna.

My 17 year old has a stuffed bunny, called Sleephead Bunny, that he got when he was a small child. Though I don't think he still uses it, and it isn't often in his room, I keep finding it out and about. Silly bunny, he is suppose to stay in my little storage room for when my son has his own child. ;):D

In true survivor style my elephant survived a washing machine cycle (no spin), and a wee bit of time in the tumble dryer.

Rainy you just made me realize that I can't remember the last time Mr Tumbles had a good wash. I usually put him int he washing machine with some other light-weight clothing items but have been worried about it recently. The thread on his little nosey is coming undone slowly on one corner. :( I think maybe when money is less tight I will see if our Build-A-Bear can give him a good washing. We have been through several bouts of bronchitis, the flu and food poisoning, not to mention far too many sinus infections, colds and God only knows what hit me last year for twenty four hours and caused crippling pain . I realize each day how lost I would be without my little Stuffy.

The cleaning service with restuffing seems to be a USA branch thing, as on my internet trawls I found lots of people on forums discussing it from the US, but no one from the UK said anything about their branches offering the service. The branch in Edinburgh sells special cleaning products and brushes, but I couldn't find anything about offering a full cleaning service. It sounds a little like getting your car valeted, now that I think about it :).

Maybe Mr Tumbles could get his nose fixed with some needle and thread. Are you any good at sewing, MW?

I put my elephant in a pillowcase, tied it tightly, then put him in the machine along with towels. I worried about him in there, but then I told myself the clean had to be done becuase of the germs (silly partner making me paranoid about them). He was quite secure in there, and I didn't let the machine go on the crazy high speed spin cycle. He really does smell lovely now, like flowers. Probably a lot nicer than a real elephant.

I never realised how important he was until I was reading this thread; I have always cuddled him when I have been physically unwell, and often I will bring him through to sit on the couch. Honestly, I feel like a bit of a loony, but then maybe all adult teddy bear lovers are ;)!

PS - I still havent found Stitch or his companion the pink Frog.
They will turn up. It's always in the last place you look :p.

Y'all, remember: build-a-bear only de-stuffed and re-stuffed mine. They did NOT (and won't) do the laundering, we had to bring him home for that.

I could only imagine how ticked Teddy would have been at me had I left him with someone who would have been closely inspecting his "intimates" while bathing him. LOL!

Joking aside though, you're going to have to wash your de-stuffed loved one yourself, or like I did - bring in someone else to do the laundering that is not so emotionally attached.

Sorry if I gave anyone the wrong impression.

I have 2012 white christmas bear and a big white rabbit that I sleep with. They are also shared by my 5 month old kitten. She sleeps on the other side of the bed on her blue blanket with the rabbit and the bear.

At one time I had a lot of bears, but gave them to the grandchildren. Still have a Mercedes Benz bear and a Teddy Roosevelt bear.
