Not to diminish in any way the horror of what happened (I've been crying since I first saw the story), but what is even sadder is that this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. This is the saddest part in this whole equation. Haters are going to hate, and many take up arms to express their mindless rage on innocents around the world. I truly don't understand it and I don't think I want to. I think back to the senseless violence that has played out over hundreds of years and it sickens me.
I found myself praying for all of our world leaders and our military around the world to figure out a way to stop this, but am not optimistic. I often wonder why we haven't had more of this in the US, but I think the twin towers, Boston, and other attacks were just the start. Also, why not London, Rome, Munich, Moscow, all of South America, etc...? Maybe they think we are doing their dirty work because we already have Americans killing Americans - another thread on that one.
I was unaware of what The Albatross mentioned above. Certainly not a good move on the part of the US. I try not to watch the news, but have been receiving free copies of the WSJ for the past couple of weeks, so am engaging a little more. Don't we have enough of a problem trying to keep an eye on iffy persons in the US that are here on visas? Also, we are refusing to allow folks from Mexico to come over the boarder, but are allowing possible terrorists? Makes no sense to me when we can't even take care of our community or our neighbors.
Lost on this one, heartbroken and praying for the families and victims alike. I think I should have added to my gratitude entry that I am very thankful to be living in a place where I, truly, don't worry too much about a terrorist attack happening as I make my way to the grocery or pharmacy. Praying for the survivors too as they must feel like prisoners in their own country and all those who fled their countries in the Middle East to get away from these monsters. God help us all. VB
