Been here three years and only once gota response in chat. Search the archives. Common experience. But someone pointed out people who frequent chat seem to ruminate on their problems. People who post actually do something to improve their lives.

I felt the same at first until I realized that much of the time the conversation in chat is dull as dirt. I decided to find other places online to connect with people.

I think Isape articulates it really well. The posts seem to be getting quite personal now and this is counter productive.
Not everyone who 'chats' ruminates about their own worries or problems, and you know what if they do - thats fine. Its also fine that some find it dull as dirt. Everyone is allowed their opinion, lets just try not to be nasty or hurtful.
Oh and by the way ... Im not part of a clique ! im me :)

Do I ruminate about my problems and never fix them?
Yeah. Yeah I do.
That's because I am a weak-willed jackass who can't do anything right.
I'm simply not ever going to get better, and it's my fault.

I really think the world would be a better place without me.

Wow! That's quite the statement.I was always under the impression, we are in control of our own recovery. What works for some may not work for others. But thanks for clearing that up for me. Maybe if you have time you could come into chat and tell us how to do our recovery and improve our lives.

There seem to be a lot of anonymous posts lately about people complaining about the site or people on the site or features of the site.

I can say from visiting other forums that this is the most widely supportive site out there. Many have a handful of members who dominate every thread, hijack threads, and so on. Here, there are so many members, you can almost always count on someone responding and offering support.

I found chat to be kind of dull and exclusive, but that really isn't why I'm here. I take what works for me and leave the rest. Maybe it cannot be one stop shopping for all.

I am grateful that this forum is here. Besides, chat rooms are so 1990s. ;-)

I don't go there anymore... though to be candid, in recovery circles I've yet to find a chat forum, even moderated that I like.

It's true.... If you just look at chat over time you see the same people posting the same problems all the time. It's why I look but stay silent. Trying to get them to post is like pulling teeth it seems.

If you make a post you can always come back and re-read the great advice. Can't do that in chat, and people forget most of what was said so that's why I think the same people are always chatting about the same problems.

I frequent the chat and rarely do I post a "problem" I am having. I am usually upbeat and cheerful and save my "problems" for a thread where I can take the time to think about what I want to say and analyse and process the feedback I get.
