The Good, The Bad, And The Evil At The Va

So, I had said a while back in another thread, that I would start a list of good and bad VA providers and shit, to try and help everyone know what they're in for when they go to the VA. Now, I don't go to the VA on a regular basis, but I have seen several docs there for treatment and C&P exams over the years. This is the start of the list. First, all that I list right now are (or were) at the St. Cloud, MN VA. Dr. Hurovitz is a good psych C&P examiner. He is hard to understand, but is very patient, and very through, even with only an hour to examine you. I felt comfortable talking to him. Dr. Ashby is a bitch. Every time I have seen her, she spends more time lecturing me, than doing her job. I saw her twice in the past several years for C&P exams, and I hated her each time. She makes me want to beat the shit out of somebody, just on principle. Unfortunately, I have to see her again in a few weeks for my IU claim the VA filed for me. Christine Rohlfs, FNP, is a good provider. She is prior service, and is the one I see when I do my annual exam (non C&P) at the VA. She likes to talk, which can be a bit annoying, but at least what she is talking about is explaining everything about my health, meds, lab tests, etc, making sure that I fully understand what the f*ck is going on.

Thats all I got for now. Feel free to add to the list, maybe we can all help fellow vets in our areas to avoid bad VA docs.

You are guaranteed the right to request a different PCP, specialist or PA at any time when dealing with the VA. be polite, but just tell them at the Patient Advocate office what is going on. Thanks to recent scandals, they generally take care of business quickly. If that doesn't work, there is always the VA OIG, but make sure you have your ducks in a row before contacting VA OIG!
