I also will not ever vote for a Republican for congress or the presidency ever again because every single one of them voted AGAINST equal pay for women. EVERY SINGLE ONE. How any self-respecting person who cares about women could vote for these misogynistic jerks who allow our employers to steal our wages is beyond me. To think that if it had passed I'd have been getting fair wages all this time really pisses me off.
The legislation is going to pass if we get a Democratic House and Senate back, along with a President who won't veto it. That would quickly pull literally millions of American women out of poverty, and when women get equal pay, we tend to spend in our local economy, boosting growth and hence creating jobs.
Any business which requires theft of women's wages to prosper is unethical and deserves to fail.
Hillary gets it. She was one of the Senators helping our Equal Pay campaign the whole way.
Emily's List is a great site to learn more about women candidates. Project VoteSmart is a good site to see candidate's "political courage test" responses and see how they've voted.
Another reason I love Hillary is because she understands that Americans need and deserve paid sick leave, something which Republicans are completely against. I don't want to be cared for in a hospital where the workers have to work sick or lose their jobs, something that is still happening at my local hospital where I was a paramedic. Teachers and parents should be able to stay home when they or their child is sick rather than being out in the public putting us all at risk.
It's a basic public health issue, not that Republican science-deniers care. Chances are, many of them never watched their kids. One of the reasons we're all at such risk is because Americans can't stay home when ill, so communicable diseases spread rapidly. If we could stay home and keep our germs to ourselves, we'd all be healthier and safer. It's also a basic homeland security strategy. If someone were to release pathogens into public spaces, people who started feeling ill would already be able to isolate themselves at home and minimize the rapid spread.
Honestly, I'm so tired of Hillary's emails being the damned story when we all deserve to be discussing these issues that TRULY MATTER. But when people are easily angered by propaganda, our candidates get by without having to discuss these things. Every person who cares about women and children should be aware of how much the GOP has been standing in the way of equality.
