@hodge - tagging you because you've mentioned starting a thread on election night, and I have to be honest - I'd much prefer it if it were a PC group. That way, we don't have to moderate it (which would be potentially a full time job for the night).

Yes, @EveHarrington, Colbert has the Showtime special tomorrow night. We don't have it. In the meantime, there's a special election SNL tonight which should be a good distraction.

@joeylittle, no worries. I've reconsidered that idea and I agree this would be better in a group pc. You definitely need a break after these last 15 or so months.

I am relieved that the election is almost over but the obscene misogyny embedded into every aspect of American culture will live on and require long-term commitment from all to change this toxic environment.

I have felt very ambivalent by my GOP women friends who are now warming to Hillary Clinton after bashing her for these past years. I'm going to have to forgive them for calling me names for supporting her. Now that they see the misogyny and how deeply some men hate us women, I'm glad they're more aware but gosh, did they have to share so many hateful things about her as a person along the way? I appreciate their reaching out to me but gosh...ouch.

I have a lot of soul-searching to do so I can see people once again as just people with opinions and be able to tolerate ones I do not agree with.

Unfortunately much is misogyny of women against women. There is a culture of competition amongst women and women have integrated this unfortunate view into their mindset, that instead of supporting one another we must try to take one another out.

I don't know if I could ever accept Trump supporters given the nature of my trauma. I'd feel like I was the biggest sell out, that my trauma was nothing, and that I'm just the biggest hypochondriac/drama queen. I've clawed my way to acceptance. I don't think I could go back.

And why should I?

I tried to reframe.

I'd never accept someone into my life who supports any other abuser, so why should I do it now?

Healing needs to be done but I'm not the one to do it so to speak. My personal healing takes precedence over anything else. I can't afford to jeopardize it at this point.

There is one branch of the family that is republican (hard core). I don't ask. If their political leanings this cycle come out at some point, it is what it is. I probably won't make an effort to stay in touch with them.

A number of forecasts have Hillary at 274 without any swing states. It's looking good.
