The Meds Triggered A Fast Weight Gain...

Since I joined you all here and started the new regimen of meds I have gained just a bit over ten kilos. I understand that with the combo of meds I am taking this can happen, but to go from 75K (thats 175lb for you 'mericans that still refuse to join the rest of the world...) to 85K in a month seems a bit much.

Had to go buy new pants for the first time since 2001...

Anyway, I ask you more experienced folks as I'm a bit worried about the big gain over such a short period of time. Anyone else put on a few due to meds? Should I worry?

(Mostly, as I'm not used to not seein' me wee torpedo when I take a leak....) ;)

Mate, I have been doing some research on this. All the medications do is slow your metabolism. What medication are you on, and where are you from Sludge?

Zoloft, Lamotrigine, and Prazsosin are the damned pills.
I'm from the States, just we science types use metric. I actual have to use a converter to remember U.S. measurements for all distance. Still use miles and feet and such for that. LOL

I read up on the metabolism slowing aspects, but it seems a bit much mass to put on in a month. Then again, my weight hadn't changed since I was 17, so perhaps it is just time grow out rather than up.

The thing is Sludge, we are no longer in our teens, or twenties. I used to way 85 kg from about 24 years of age in 1990 and still weighed 87 kg when I was discharged in 2006. I was 110 kg in September last year and stopped taking the Avanza, and over the period of 8 weeks, lost over 12 kg. I started the Avanza again and now have to really battle to keep it below the 100 kg mark. I will manage though. Its called determination, but the injuries slow me up a bit too.

What we forget is that it's natural for our bodies to slow down over time.

I went through the same thing on efexor XR, 85kg to 110kg in around 8 months - despite doing PT daily and being sober for the majority of that time. I've since ditched the efexor, began simply walking 90mins a day and starting taking a HGH booster - 3 weeks into this I was 10kg lighter.

I questioned an MO over it, apparently extreme weight gain and erectile disfunction are very common whilse on the drugs - thanks for telling me 8months later !

Yeah, this getting old shit really does suck. Oddly, I eat less and PT more now a days...when the injuries aren't being a real bastard. I guess I will just have to add another 20k to my cycling regimen.

have you had bloods done recently? the results should tell you if your thyroid gland is working.

I never changed size really but Olanzapine caused a massive increase(10 Kg in a couple of weeks)

is it mainly just your gut? If it is it might be a result of fluid retention... I went from 200ish to 252ish pounds (90ish kg to 114kg for y'all across the pond that just had to be different lol) in about 6 days after a meds switch... first they thought it was Congestive Heart Failure then about 3 or 4 other things... regardless they put me on a diuretic and I am at 83ish kg/182 lbs now...

not saying this is the case, but if it is all or mostly in the abdominal area there is a possibility it is...

it's widely known IBS and reflux are commonly linked to PTSD, google the ROME III criteria on IBS and see if it sounds like you. ROME III is the international standard, US and AUS use it.

In a lot of ppl Pazosin actually helps them loose weight but hard to say what maybe happening with the other meds. You can lopok em up. If not aks your doc.
