You sound like a very wise woman!!!! Thats really big of you not to judge. Its not the same situation but I have had alot of prolblems with my daughter lately. She not bad all the time she saves her mistakes for the big screw ups. She never talks back and always does anything I ask of her. Very well mannered.... But she makes huge mistakes. I judge her and let it be known to her. I too made alot of mistakes. I feel like I have raised her better. But I really get upset with her and say things I souldnt.
Different situation but really loved what you said. Maybe I can learn from it,

Loved how you handled it. That really what she needed. Understanding cause you know she is already terrified to be a new mom soon. I know I was at the age of 17 myself.

Marlene I need to say to you that I am so very jealous of you and your daughter. While the situation is not exactly what you would have liked, treasure every minute of it and the time you will share with your daughter. I do not know where my daughter is. I may be a gramma and not even know it. I don't mean to rain on your parade but I do want you to know how truely lucky you are that your daughter is in your life. You have a precious gift coming to you. That gift is the time you 2 will share and the closeness that will result from this. I envy the 2 of you and the relationship you have. Bless both of you--oops--the 3 of you

Thanks, Herc. It's good to get a reminder (and even a kick in the shorts) of all of the good I have in my life. Including the newest thing in my life.

My daughter brought home an ultrasound picture a couple of days ago. Still a bit of a kick in the head to fully realize my daughter is going to be a mommy. I look at her and pictures of her as a little girl flash in my mind. I'm still in a bit of a bizarre place.

My daughter called me today at work and told me that she had had another ultra-sound and we found out the grandbaby is a boy! My husband is on cloud nine. I know he's just going to be impossible to live with now that there's going to be another man in the house. LOL

Everyone's really excited about this. Even the great grands (to be) got calls from my daughter about this.

Love getting happy news.

Lisa

Congrats....Has he got a name yet?? LOL!!!!!!!

Wicked cool news Marlene.........I am so happy.

the grandbaby is a boy!

Congratulations Lisa and Hubby! How much fun will a grandson be and the best part is you can hand him back

I'm sure it will be a really positive life changing experience and I admire you Lisa for not projecting your own mistakes onto your daughter - it shows terrific maturity and good parenting

Thanks Wen and Nic!

As for the name...my daughter wants to name him Damien. Every time I hear that I hear Robin Williams in my head talking about The Omen and saying 'Put the dog down, Damien'. LOL

Thanks for the kind words, Nicolette. Wow...that's a really nice compliment. Thank you.

And about handing the baby back to mommy, my husband has already started to make lists of how he's going to spoil the grandbaby. It our job, he tells me. And he expects me uphold my end of things. I think I'm up to it!

Lisa

Lisa,

That is so awesome!! Okay, I need to get back in the game 'cause I'm missing out on some good news! Your daughter is very lucky to have you and that little boy is going to be spoiled rotten! I believe that even though he's so little right now and inside his mama, he will thrive when mom is well supported and loved during her pregnancy. You are being a wonderful, caring grandma already for this baby! Congrats.

Nam

That is great news! Congrats! Guys always act so silly when they find out there is going to be another winky in the house. Has he run out to by the baseball equipment yet? I bet you both are just thrilled.

Thanks, Nam. Even though we have six months to go yet, I'm starting to get into this whole grandma thing. Grandpa's been ready forever. Mr. Tough Guy turns into a big bundle of mush around babies! LOL

Fishing poles, veiled, fishing poles. We've already been to Wal-Mart to check out their supply of Snoopy fishing poles (Woodstock bobbers, too). I thought I'd have to physically restrain him when I told him it was too early to buy that yet.

Lisa

OMG, that is hilarious, Lisa! Your hubs sounds like my dad totally! He was getting bib overalls, fishing poles and farm stuff (dekalb and pioneer hats, boots, and feeding buckets) for my girls when they were first born. I thought it was a tad bit too soon....but you know, this past month, while I was in the NICU with Leo, the girls (Drama Queen and Princess, mind you) rode with Grandpa on the back of four wheeler, through a cow pie pasture to feed some of the livestock some grain. I was mortified! Where did they sit? He said they sat IN a five gallon bucket with the grain! So...well Drama Queen and the Princess also became farm hands!

Wow!!!!! Awww a little baby boy called Damien....coar babies seem to be dropping everywhere at the moment! So pleased for you, and for your daughter!!! I think all grandparents have a job to spoil the grandkids too, and you're going to do a fine job! I bet you are all counting the days and weeks anxiously and eagerly!
