I tried online therapy. What I got was a mishmash of information that appeared to have simply been copied out of "Therapy for Dummies" (if there is such a thing.) None of it was ever even personalized. Just a scam site, I guess. I thought how easy(!) it would be not to have to sit in an office facing an actual person. But what I needed was exactly that, because I had become so used to avoiding people all together. I was using detachment and dissociation as coping mechanisms, and needed help with that behavior. Which I doubt I could ever have received with out a tete-a-tete.
