Things That Trigger My Anger

Let me tell you some of the things my family has said that triggered me into having angry outbursts.

1. My dad said "You will never have a home"
This made me explode in rage. He likes to tamper with my basic human need of having shelter. He has evicted me in the past, and when he says that I relive the whole homelessness experience in my mind.

2. My brother said "Why do you let it bother you?"
This happened after my dad set me off about not having a home. It just poured gas on the fire.

3. My brother said "I really dont give a s**t"
This was his reply when I tried to explain to him at lunch what PTSD is and what causes it. I tried to explain triggers to him and he doesnt care obviously.

My dad has told me that psychology as a whole is an 'unproven science' and he is in denial that I even have a disorder. There have been a few instances where my family has punished me for having PTSD. One time I got angry and was told "I dont get anything to eat" after my mom cooked dinner. And like I said, I have been evicted (3 times) for things relating to the symptoms that manifest when I get angry. They seem to have this thing were they want to 'take away my toys' when I misbehave. Its a very childish approach to me. Im a grown man that is disabled and I rely on them for some things (a home, and food sometimes) and they use these things as leverage against me because I have moments of uncontrollable anger. Anger that they trigger in me. And then I get punished for having an outburst.

Does anyone have any advice for how to deal with this sad situation? Does anyone out there have a similar experience as this???

Get rid of those people. Find another place to stay. You won't change them - mostly because they obviously don't give a sh*t about you - and you don't need additional stressors and re-traumatising events (more evictions) in your life that will only impede your healing process.

EDIT: Sorry to be so blunt but seriously, what's with f*milies? I can count the helpful ones I have heard about on one hand while the f*cked up ones are countless.

I agree. Families just dont care to take the time to even look into PTSD. I really wish I could live without them, but I love them. And I'm disabled so I have very little choice in the matter.
