hey guys i have been suffering from ptsd since 2003 when we went into iraq. but the question i have is becuase of my mental health probloms will they take my pow away from me. i am pro 2nd amd.? if they will then i am not goin to clam this ptsd.

Hey Frenchy

It's a good question. One that I actually asked my therapist about as I'm concerned about it also. She said it really depends on the vet in question and the degree of PTSD. Whether or not they could be a danger to others or themselves. She said that they sometimes have to fill out forms to attest to the fitness of vets where gun ownership is involved.

I'd say if would depend on your particular situation. If you have a therapist discuss it with them and see what they say. Either way I'd suggest opting for treatment for your PTSD.

:ROFLMAO: LMFAO

Oh Boy your realy must have the BEAST bad if your only f*cking worry is whether you can still carry a gun

LMFAO

But on the up side.........

At least you will not be cloging up the VA Systeme for the VETS who are having real problems.

Well, they're talking this very thing on the news right now. Sounds like McCain is selling us down the river. As it stands now, a 100% rating for PTSD has verbiage contained in it that precludes gun ownership. I have no idea how low they will go on who can and can't. I know it doesn't look good.

Angle, I know you don't understand our love of the 2nd amendment. I do know for we Americans it is all wrapped up in freedom, patriotism, and yes, manhood and responsibility. And it begins at an early age. My first weapon was a .410 single shot shotgun that Dad bought me to hunt rabbits across the road to put dinner on the table.

The only equivalent I can think of is when the Brits had to turn in their Enfield .303s after they had been told they could keep them after the war. Maybe that means something, maybe not.

If it happens and I have to give up my arms, I will, ain't going to prison over them. Anybody know if they make laser sights for crossbows?

Anybody know if they make laser sights for crossbows?

Yes, yes they do.

I don't know what's in the wings for those with the 100% rating for PTSD. If I were to get something like that it would be a combo of my other wounds and PTSD so I don't know how or if it would apply. As I mentioned, I talked at length to my therapist about this and she said that there are times that they get asked to fill out forms for vets with PTSD that want to purchase guns. She said that very few were in the category of people that were a danger to themselves or others. Most of them, sadly as she said, would not be good candidates for gun ownership. The others were approved.

As I think we all know and have seen of late, you don't need a gun to hurt, maim, or kill. Anything can be a weapon in the right or wrong hands. Oh, and a crossbow is lethal at close range, as I think you know Sarg.

More laws won't solve the problems, even if some people think so.

If I have PTSD...Will they allow me to buy 500lbs of nitrate fertilizer? Just for gardening and safety.

Don`t get me wrong, I know you guys love your guns and all that, Whether I agree or not doesn`t come into it.

It is your Country and your laws which you guys live with. So being honest, I couldn`t give a rats arse whether you do or don`t.

Maybe when the day Comes that Armed Terrorist are running around DC, NY or the likes with SA80, Brownings and Fetilizer made bombs that Come from the UK you guys might understand our viewpoint of readíly available weapons for Terrorists (the likes of the IRA) to get their Hands.

But then you wouldn`t mind most probably, because so many realy believe the "a Bad guy with a gun can only be dealt with by a Good guy with a gun" crap.

Just out of curiousity, how many Good guys with guns have died or been wounded in Afghan? let alone the other theatres where we are all serving.

But one Thing I realy don`t understand is how someone who is suffering from PTSD, only issue is "Will I be able to Keep my guns"

Sorry guys but Frenchy`s Priorities are f*cked up. If He/She/It has PTSD then the first Thing to worry about is getting the PTSD sorted and not what the VA might or might not mean in Terms of the 2nd.

And being serious. If He/She/It doesn`t Claim by the VA because they may loose there guns. Then you should all be Happy that some one who doesn`t want help isn`t blocking up the over stretched and clogged up VA Systeme and stopping you guys getting what you Need.

As for 500lbs of nitrate fertilizer!

Yeah they should let you buy that Wagon cocker.

Might have something to do with "Making Bombs is Premeditated" where as a PTSD sufferer in a rage is more an "on the spot Situation" who reacts in an instant and hardly Premeditated.

That is unless you can make a 500lbs bomb in front of the Guy who has wound you up in the Shopping centre with People watching, in the same amount of time as it would take to draw a side arm!

I know you are good, but your not god.

Or maybe you mean carry a 500lbs+ pipe bomb around with you for your own security, just in case you get mugged or maybe for that f*cktard who is breaking into your house

It may also have something to do with Bomb makers usualy being Terrorists, home grown or foreign. I know plenty of Vets who are pissed at their countries for various reasons. Who would if wound up by the dick in front of them in Mcdonalds seriously harm if not Kill the f*cktard.

But a Vet Bomb Making? Seriously....................

Oh yeah, And Frenchy, since you waltzed in here and started this thread, why don't introduce yourself.

As you will note the name of the site is "Combat PTSD Forum" it is for Military/ex Military who suffer from PTSD acquired in combat or from a toilette seat in the Milwaukee Greyhound Station as I have (I am a special case here).

This would mean...private security, truck drivers, or selling ice cream on the docks in Um Qasr probably would not qualify you.

We're all military here....meaning we pretty much follow our rules and have allot of respect for each other. Your post is the equivalent of walking down the street seeing two strangers engaged in deep conversation, walking up to them and saying "Hey what do people think about gay marriage?" or some shit like that.

So a proper introduction please. Nothing serious. Unit, when where. When diagnosed? No gore stories here.

This site is here to help people with PTSD, it's not a f*cking gun rights brouhaha.

No I have not had my coffee yet.

the first Thing to worry about is getting the PTSD sorted and not what the VA might or might not mean in Terms of the 2nd.

I completely agree with you on that Angle. The focus should always be on getting treated and working towards getting better. Actually once you're better you can think about your guns if that's a priority for you. Too many times it becomes the method of choice to end ones life when you just can't deal with anything anymore. Personally, I've been there and didn't have any weapons for a very long time because of that. It only takes a second of absolute hell for one to make that kind of decision.

Oh, and DAMN that Milwaukee Greyhound Station!!!!!!
