"Shut up you worked in the TOC you piece of shit" (I almost caved his face in)
I wanted to kill myself for those two months. After we lost someone in our platoon my section chief put me in the TOC Being stuck in a wooden box 7 days a week taking IDF almost daily made the stress and depression skyrocket. See for me my PTSD didn't come from being in major firefights. It came from nearly two months of being in a box while people died all around you with nothing you could do about it but feel guilty for not being out there. Strangely going back on patrols was the greatest feeling ever. It felt like hope and control was breathed back into me. My firefight experience made me feel alive, more alive than ever. There's no one else who I can relate to with this.
