Some said it was ludicrous - that a government would regulate knives... but in the gun restricted UK that's becoming a reality.

Sporks anyone? Sheesh. Granted, some items included in the knife category may be justified... however I am appalled by the Euro concept in play. Not mentioned appear to be machetes, axes or hatchets by the way. With vehicles having become weaponized in Europe in particular... expect a ban on automotives soon (like in the next decade or so), eh?

The cascade of unintended consequences from attempting to ban classes of guns is still continuing, Forgotten Weapons blog recently looked at a submachinegun that was built by a Brit, to demonstrate how easily guns can be made out of readily available everyday materials using a few DIY tools

Making a ban on guns work, rather than just being a sop to superficial and easily distracted public opinion, would involve taking Britain back to the stone age

Drugs and contraband cigarettes come in by the shipping container full, it's likely that guns could too, so all imports and exports would have to be laboriously searched, and the searchers themselves searched and policed - to make sure that no one turned a blind eye to contraband coming through.

Knowledge of basic metal working, medieval levels of chemistry and basic Newtonian mechanics would all have to be totally surpressed. All products embodying those levels of knowledge and higher, would need to be removed

Without those levels of repression and dumming down throughout the population, the bans cannot work.
