It's like venturing into a whole other world. That's a breath taking space, @Esterio ! Thank you for sharing.
Part of our space and the neighboring land is an old xmas tree farm. If you go back into the area that was first planted with the pines back in the early 80s, where it's mostly all dead now except for the very tops of some of the trees, especially on a day where the sun is bright and shining through the holes, lighting various paths among the thick carpet of pine needles, it's so freakin' cool. It feels like a fairy tale. So much life among the death if you take the time to really look, listen, and pay close attention. Such a priceless treasure to have access to.
The running water from the mountain stream is my next favorite spot....while kicked back on a big ol' exposed tree root that's almost a perfect recliner. Water. Such a sacred thing we all take for granted. So many waterways being poisoned by our choices each day. So many people no longer have access and are forced to buy it by the case from companies like Nestle who are buying up the waterways to sell it back to us. grrrr
I talk to the waters, the land, the trees, the plants, the animals, etc. all the time and offer them apologies on behalf of the human race. I also have to carry pocket fulls of tissues with me everywhere I go, as I cry at the drop of natural beauty each and every time, and I also live within ear shot of a dairy farm and hearing those heart-wrenching cries rips my heart out. I used to never think twice about many things animal related, but now I have a whole new view and respect for each and every one, especially as an abuse survivor. Venturing out into a society that frequently honors and seems to fancy death more than life in so many ways makes home sweet home and our little piece of nature my preferred spot much more often than not. I wish I could bottle up the feelings of contentment it conjures up to share with the whole world.
