Vomiting Blood

I think he's 'saying' the thought of the Dr's appointment and the implications that may follow, is too much stress with the addition of the work stress.

Without hitting any panic buttons, so to speak, perhaps if you can remain calm and talk with him after some stress abates, that this would ease your stress (for him) to go to, not to mention it's preferable going in on your own 2 feet than by ambulance, perhaps he will try to do it for you more than himself.

Vomiting blood, as others have stated, can be a symptom of a life threatening problem. It is particularly dangerous
if it continues. Ulcers are a common cause. I know...

If the bleeding is ongoing, prompt medical attention is needed and a hospital, not your family doctor, is the appropriate place. It is common to order an upper endoscopy, as well as perhaps plain X-rays and other studies. These can be done quickly at a hospital. Seeing a gastroenterologist is a poor second choice. You do not know for sure if it is a GI problem, and he/she is unlikely to be able to quickly get done the needed tests. Your husband would then be sent to the ER.

Sometimes an ambulance is best simply because it gets the patient seen as a priority.

You see, here we pay $400 or so for an ambulance, but if necessary by all means.

Let him know as your husband you and he are in this together, and it's in neither of your best interests to let it escalate. "He" means more to you than any 'job', etc- things will work out. Right now dealing with it (the symptoms) and avoiding addressing it is actually causing more stress.

Best wishes-

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate all the advice.
Update, my husband saw a doctor and the doctor thinks it may be ulcers again. Sent him for blood work, and now we wait for results... he came home talking about going out in the evening because he was pretty stressed about the whole thing.
We should know soon if anything comes of the tests.

Follow up:
By now I hope the patient has gone for a diagnosis to determine where the blood was coming from...

No word from them...probably meaning they found nothing in the blood work. left msg with our dr to cal...nothing so far :(. My husband is at his worst with his ptsd right now.
