This is just one of a lot more stories in the last year or two or 3......
http://www.disabledveterans.org/2013/04/24/vets-outraged-over-veteran-organization-exec-pay/

Did you know that all and I mean all of the VSO's that work with the VA get.......FREE office space, elect, computers, printers, desks, phones, anything you would need for the office. Who picks up the tab on all this?
That's easy, THE VA PAY'S FOR IT ALL!!!!

So the QUESTION you should ask is WHO does all the VSO's work for? The VA or YOU??? It's kind of like the old Fox guarding the Hen house.......

I was a life member in the VFW.....I told them to stick it up their ass. I used DAV as my VSO and they f*cked up my claim some what.......It was a an easy fix, I just added the DAV's VSO's (their) names to my VA paper work as to why things were f*ck UP!!! Boy things got fixed real fast after that.

So your best move is learn how to do your own claim or hire a Veterans Law Attorney!!! Have questions on VA Claims, or about you C&P is go to one of the best free sites. Dead Link Removed
Look to the left side to find what you are wanting info on. This free site helped me a lot after the DAV's VSO's f*ck UP........

In most case's I think you can do your claim yourself. Just read how to do it at the above web site. The info is that good.......

Lets talk about getting a Veterans Law Attorney. He only gets paid if he wins. I think it's about 20% (maybe 25%) of what he wins for you. That could be a lot more that any VSO may get you......The Attorney makes more $$$, for getting you more $$$......

Side Note:
My wife has bad RA, we put in a claim for SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) like just about 99.9% she was turned down on her claim. So I hire a good SSDI Law Attorney and he Wins her case!!! We paid him 25% (set by law) of her claim and it was a damn good deal for her. With out the Attorney the wife would have got $0.00 for the rest of her life.....Now she gets a check.....

So why did I write this? Easy I have Severe Chronic PTSD and I DO NOT like being feed a load of SHIT by ALL the VSO's and them f*ckING UP my Brothers and Sisters VA Claims......Now use your search engine and check out what I have said......

Sadly, the organizations that are out there to help vets all have their own political agenda. I remember a time when you couldn't sue the VA about your claim. Hard to believe in a country that is gone crazy with law suits. At least today there are some options.

The reality for veterans is that we will have to fight with the VA for our entire lives. It's just never done, there's always something. I proud to say that I served my country but many times wish I'd died in combat. At least the fight would have been over.

I have talked to several VSO's none of which gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. Then I discovered the same info you posted ODG. I often get ostracized when I run into someone in the VA about my claim and the fact I have an attorney.

When I originally began the claim process I didn't know where to start. But I knew the legalities of lawyers and SSI. So I researched that. I determined it was similar to VA comp claims. To me, 20% was a small price. Plus like mentioned it is an incentive for them to get the most they can for you.

At this stage, I think I know enough about the system to fight it. My trouble wa the stress. Why would I want to add more stress when the problem with PTSD is stress?

Anyway, I never filed for PTSD originally. I was labeled with it by the VA. I have my own conspiratorial reasons. But I will wait for this all to play itself out before I come to even a hypothesis.

I am sure there are some good veteran advocates. You just need to do some research.

Hey Grizz,
Well said Brother......I would guess you get ostracized because they know it would not be a good idea to f*ck with you. Or should I say your attorney.......They know if they do, it will come back and bite them in the ass. They want control of you, and they don't have it......That makes me smile, :D:D:D:D

As to the VSO's......They have NO f*ckING INTEGRITY!!!! Veterans f*cking other Veterans, makes me wonder if they were ever in Combat......Veterans f*cking other Veterans is NOT in my play book.......

I can't believe I'm about to say this but....one of the Afgan war Vets in my Vet group is working his ass off for not only his fellows but us raunchy Nam Vets as well. I actually suggested he back down a little as his marriage was getting rough and he just looked gaunt. So maybe there's hope. I too, got burned bad by a number of the VSO's, went online to www.hadit.com and VAwatchdog.net and finished up myself.

Were the means there to hire an attorney at the very beginning, I would have jumped at it. At that time, we were allowed to die for our country but had no rights afterwards. Seems they over looked that little detail while swearing us in.

Hey Sarg,

Good to see ya' Bro. And I also agree with your statement. Today it's complicated, although the mindset is still the same. I had one good VSO from the DAV. He was instrumental in getting me the ratings and setting me in the right direction to get help with my PTSD. He cared. It's like everything; some people care, some don't. You have to search till you find the one that does. Is that right? No. But it is the way of it. As I often mention, the struggle never ends. It's important to have other things to focus on beside the VA, and all that. If you don't it can make things, PTSD, way worse. Been there and done that. So, I say, please don't do that. It becomes like a swirling quagmire that just pulls you down.

Being diverse helps. Find something you like to do and do it, then find something else and so on. I know this thread isn't about that but it's important for me to say as I understand the battle we all face all the time. If I didn't have some of the diversions that I do now It would be very difficult to cope. Still gotta' live every day and at least try to make it a good one.

Hey Sarg,

Good to see ya' Bro. ...
Jar

Ditto, hope all is well Sarg!

I was told to ensure you use the State Vets Affairs office since they are paid to be your rep to the VA, another bunch of crap. In the end, if you find a good person, kinda like finding a good therapists, than grab on because they seem to be a little hard to find.

I think all in all your best bet is to be your own advocate. I went in blind. Without a clue where to start and needed help. Sadly, now I think I could have handled it on my own. It would have cost me a year of time though. But even with an attorney your safe to know the law and how it all plays into your claim.
