Hello all. I just wanted to give a quick introduction of myself...

I am the girlfriend/supporter (we live together) of a diagnosed combat PTSD sufferer. He was diagnosed a few years ago but just started treatment 5 months ago. We have live together 14 months (when he returned from his 9th deployment in 10 years) and let me tell you, it's be a long, hard year...

I don't know what my guy was like pre-PTSD so this is all I have to go off. After reading and reading this forum for awhile I realized we weren't alone in our struggles. I'm glad to have found this and hope he will also use this and the combat PTDS forum soon. As everyone else I need some help figuring this all out and some pointers in the right direction.

Thank you in advance for all the help and advice and friendships to come...

Hi ShayShay,

Welcome to the PTSD Forum! :)

There is an entire section for supporters, and I hope you find the information and support there helpful for yourself and your relationship.

Take care.

Debbie

Thank you. I have been stalking that section for awhile now. I even have my books ready from the "Recommended Reading" section.

Welcome to the forums

I'm glad to hear your boyfriend has made it back after his 9th, whew! deployment. Glad he made it home. I think the Combat site would do him a world of good as there are so many of us, I'm a member there also, that would be glad to help and answer any questions on therapy, treatments, meds, ect. And how we just try and get through the day sometimes. Let me know how I can help.

I also commend you for having the fortitude to care for and stick with someone that has combat PTSD. It's no pick nick. It does make relationships harder but not impossible. Best of luck to you both.

Thank you JarHed. He is aware of the other forum but doesn't seem interested yet. He is much better than a year ago but I know we have a long way to go.

He's in therapy but from what I understand his therapist is moving in 2 months and I'm pretty scared that he won't go anymore.
