heidi- I've known people that have gotten to have a dog in a non-dog taking apartment because he had depression and it help him. I think you just need a note from a doctor saying it would help you and you maybe able to get one even in a place that doesn't allow it. I think there should be ptsd service dogs! :)
I've actually stopped people with dogs and began a conversation so I could pet their dogs. Then I don't want to stop petting their dogs. The other day a distant neighbor told me they had to get going. It was kind of funny and embarrassing. He did tell me his back door was always open and I could come back anytime. Ha. Probably no thanks. Its' so funny though. I could tell he was just being nice. I was so ashamed sort of. But even those moments give me that something that I need. Ha it's so embarrassing.
And drgnfl I was thinking the same thing about service dogs.
I have such a huge instinct to get a dog. Like an almost untamable and unstoppable instinct. Pretty soon I'll probably get arrested for trying to steal one. Like trying to lug a big German Shepard over a fence or something,.
And also drgnfl I would feel bad asking my landlord for permission. I feel like it puts them in an uncomfortable and unfair position. And I would be worried about barking and the downstairs neighbors and stuff. I think it would be better to just move somewhere that allows dogs.
