What are your pet peeves ?

My wife and her "save by using the fastest cycle" thing. FFS...all the short cycle is is a compressed time version of the normal cycle. It doesn't use more water, it only uses a tiny bit more electricity, it does the same thing slower......and gets more dirt off out.

Turns out that a pet peeve of mine is using a goose noise as a duck noise in audio. I listened to an excellent fictional podcast and the duck character had a goose noise and every time I heard it my brain reminded me of the error.

Related… every eagle scene in movies uses a red tail hawk call because eagles have wimpy sound. I’m so used to that though that I expect it. But it seems that it would be easy enough to use a duck call.

Speaking of which, whenever there’s a duck scene in a movie they use a female duck call because males make a quiet “waa waa” and females make the classic loud “quack”.

Yeah, I bet you never realized how annoying it would be to watch a movie with someone trained in zoology! 😸

  • The dog pacing back and forth, back and forth, repeatedly while her nails “clip-clop” the ENTIRE time. Worse than a clicking pen. (She is doing it right now AHHHH)
  • People saying, “Try this! You’ll like it!”, but REFUSE to tell you what it is or what’s in it.
  • Adults making a mess and not cleaning it up and think I should (/boggle)
  • Putting dirty dishes on the counter that is *next* to the sink they are supposed to go in. Especially when said sink is empty… (What? It was too exhausting to go those last 6 inches?)
  • Leaving coffee pods in my Keurig after they are done making coffee.
  • Amazon leaving packages right on the right on the edge of my front step when there are two large posts on either side of said step to put them behind AND it’s in my instructions. (Package thief central in my area)
  • My last name being mispronounced by automated systems. (Totally irrational 😂)
  • People not responding to conversations THEY started because they are too busy looking at their phones…
  • People who repeatedly ask me questions and expect answers about a movie/show in the middle of it and neither of us has seen it. (You have as much info as I have, why would I know?)
  • People who sit and ridicule a show but continue to watch it, but as soon as you pause it immediately ask, “Why did you pause it?” 😳

  • edit: can’t believe I didn’t include one of my biggest ones… “It’s just a joke!”, when it obviously was not.

LMAO… Eagles whistle & kee & chiirrop to each other 99.999% of the time. The screeching eagle thing? Is reeeeeally rare.

<<< PacNW. There are 3 eagles in that tree (off my front porch), 6 off that tree (back porch) and a couple dozen when the fish are running. It’s whistling high pitched trills & kees almost constantly. The hawkish screech? Maybe twice a year. When they’re divebombing another predator, usually a coyote, occasionally a jeep. That they’ve been ignoring for months, and have finally lost their patience with… and are warning off, rather than really striking at.

Lots of media uses a "hook" where something is off just enough it catches your attention.
I gotta use a spoiler for this in case there are Bryan Adams fans here but.....really, seriously, don't read this if you like his music.......

The drums are half a beat slow and your brain wants to put them in the right place - is why you find yourself doing something to keep time with his music.....
