What info did you put on your medic alert bracelet?

Just curious as my doc wants me to wear one after my bad reaction to steroids.

So far I have

No steroids, no “ABC drug”, “XYZ” ALGY

I seriously don’t know who to put down as an emergency contact so that info may be left off. Or I may just put down my psych.

What info do you have on your medic alert bracelet?

I don't know if you have seen them but they are now making medical ID bracelets that incorporate a usb drive with a software program that allows you to input your information and load it on the drive. It is supposed to be accessible on any computer so would give far more information than just a 3-5 line engraved bracelet. I am thinking of getting one of these and potentially downloading from my physicians systems test results, scan results, diagnosis and medications.

The only reason I got the bracelet was for the naltrexone - because if I'm in an auto accident or something, they need to know I'm on opiate blockers - very vital information if I'm ever injured.

I take the naltrexone for dissociation, depersonalization, and derealization - and it is a f*cking -miracle- drug for that, seriously.

I include the "naltex for dissociation" point because I don't want them to think I'm an alcoholic or opiate addict. It's extremely rare to see people on naltrexone for any other reason, and I know from experience ER docs do a lot of assuming and it might be helpful for them to know.

Also included the other info because it might also be helpful - like if I wind up in the ER because I'm psychotic or some shit from a manic episode. Then they know why I'm psychotic.

First name or whole name?

I’m afraid of losing the bracelet and people finding out too much about me. (I have an unusual name, so it would be easily traced back to me and not one of thousands of “Susan Smith’s”)

Eve I put my first and surname engraved on the rear.

I understand your concern but if I was found unconscious or ill - Paramedics needed to know who I was.
So it was worth the risk really. It sort of defeated the purpose if I didn't have my name & Dr. on it because he was the one that suggested it may be a good safeguard. And it was. :)

Question about this: With an actual medic alert, there is an identifying number for responders to provide to the organization so they can obtain your name. Do you have one of these, or are you using a more generic one?

I talked to someone that sells generic medical alert bracelets at an event, and he said he usually advises people to put the doctor most likely to return phone calls if there are no good options for next of kin.

I used a well known Nationalised ? one... and yes I had my Dr's business and AH numbers on it.

Fortunately I no longer need it bc I stopped taking the meds :)
