What is the process for getting a medical leave of absence for my PTSD?

I've recently been diagnosed with PTSD. I see my primary care physician, my psychiatrist, and my therapist once a week now.
How do I start this process?

There may be country-specific parts to the process, but I'd suggest talking to either (or all) of your medical team first.

They'll need to provide documentation to support your leave under medical grounds.

Does your employer have a Human Resources department? You could talk to them, but at first I suggest being general and not disclosing your disorder.

If you are in the states you may be able to apply with FMLA. Either your doctor or your hr department can help you get that process started. I used it for several years before I went out on total disability.
