Fiona Apple writes a lot of great songs that deal with relationships and mental health.
She was raped as a teen in her home and you hear a lot of her frustration and anger and humor in her songs.

This is not an example of those per say but its my "I feel like self sabotage today" song
Fiona Apple-A Mistake

Not long ago I would have said that they're too many choices, but I think I like Kaki King.

She was originally a solo instrumental guitarist, then went on to use multiple instruments, and even have some singer/songwriter type songs. And her songs can be on the dark side which I definitely identify with.

Tough question.. I I like janis joplin......
Enemiem is just amazing.....

Linkin Park.... My therapy... Couldnt believe the news about Chester.... But anyone who sings like that has been through real pain... Just like us lot

Pink.... Gotta love pink.... And queen... Miss you Freddie....

Currently, a mix of Eminem, 2Pac & Nathan Feuerstein alias NF.

Otherwise, classic rock / metal of many flavors / western country / anything with Afro-Carribean influences / Japanese mostly anything. Even if that doesn't answer 'band', but, there. Variable.

I’m all over the place with music.

Iron Maiden- love the historical ballads
Pink Floyd- what’s not to love
ZZ Top-southern blues
Marty Robbins- cowboy ballads for a time forgotten
Johnny Cash- enough said
Roger Whitaker-I know but love the song “ I don’t believe in IF anymore” soothes my hyper vigilance

Lesser known (Lol)
Johnny Horton
Richard Thompson-dude is awesome, check out the Warrior” album

Guess that’s enough for now
