I am on and off with listening to music. It used to be a very big part of my life.
"It used to be" everything used to be... it needs to be again!

At the moment, when I can... Jack Johnson, I have Oscar Peterson in my cd player right now although it isnt on (LOL). And the last thing I bought was Noah and the Whale because I loved their single "Five Years Time" very upbeat, bouncy song...just put it on You Tube playing as I write this.
Thankyou for posting this thread..If I hadnt needed to check the name of the song so I could write it here I wouldnt be listening to it now and I had forgotten that it just sounds fun.
Am smiling thankyou

small ensemble classical (not symphonies, etc)more like concertos, but I do like opera.

I love electronica and experimental music and some rock and some techno and some dance music. but very selectively so.

I LOVE the great vocalists such as nina simone, sinatra, Perry Como, all that wonderful old corny stuff.. so great.

also, love love love classic Jazz...

I am surprised at how short all these lists are..lol.
60s, 70s, 80s (rock and metal)
Metal(pretty much all types)
Opera
Classical
and some faves are:
Pink Floyd
The Beatles
The Band
led Zepplin
CCR
Epica
(Old) Nightwish
Moonspell
Tool
Rainbow
Uriah Heep
Dio
Prokofiev
Mozart
Rachmaninov

I could spend an hour writing so I'll just say I listen to opera or female led Metal when I need to let stuff out. I sing along, and boy does it release a lot of negative energy!

I listen to Dimmu Borgir when I am angry. I don't know why it doesn't make my anger worse but it doesn't. I just get ridculously happy :) Rammstein is great for this too...nothing like belting out angry german lyrics when you have no clue what they mean!

When I am sad, I listen to sad stuff as it lets me release the tears I otherwise try to hold in.

I cannot ever listen to the eagles, which sucks because I used to really like them.

Radiohead.
Jacob Fred Jazz Oddysey.
Eddie Vedder.
Dead Can Dance.
Those are in my head right now.
Also Portishead, and I love experimental, moody, chaotic, live jazz. Mmm.
Anyone like Dave Matthews? He used to be my neighbor (sort of), and he did a drawing in my sketchbook. He's a pretty neat guy. I used to go to his shows quite a bit up in Seattle.

I spend most if my days plugged into my iPod, or just listening to music in general. Ever since I was a little(r) guy. I've been just adding and adding onto my interests, but at the moment, a lot of kinda uplifting, light modern pop like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. Lana Del Rey's amazing. Cumbia and Norteño like Ramon Ayala and Los Askis are really soothing to me. And I inherited Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, Elton John, CCR, Fleetwood Mac, The Beegees from my mom:p

I used to be able to enjoy (hopefully, I will again someday) late 80's/early 90's Hip-Hop a lot, but the lyrical content's a bit too much for me right now.

A lot of fast punk/Hardcore though. Like New Brigade, Hostage Calm, The Ramones, Diamond Youth, Cold World, Expire, Self Defense Family, Angel Du$t, Fall Out Boy, Build And Destroy, Backtrack, Title Fight. The list goes on. But everything is cool. :)

I mainly listen to classical music. Since I started playing classical guitar , my appreciation has increased over the last few years.

My girlfriend also recently bought opera collection that I think will also be great to hear .

I also listen to soaking music because it is also one of my healing outlets that helps me relax and communicate when I am unable to verbalize my thoughts

I listen to almost any kind of music, but rarely electronic music or "Schlager".
Music is elementally for me. In times when I don't feel myself or the world surrounding me, then music becomes my heartbeat. When I'm too angry but I'm not able to show my feelings - I let the vocalists cry for me.

Most of the time I listen to rock music and metal - especially when they are combind with bag pipes, violin or accordeon. I just love folk elements. :-) ...I also like happy-go-lucky-music, but I prefer deep music, with deep lyrics which touch me and describe my dark soul.

My most favourite band is "Saltatio Mortis", a German middle-age-rock-band. Their lyrics are really smart, critical and deep.

And I also love classical pieces, especially from Chopin and Tschaikowsky. And soundtracks like from Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. I play the keyboard myself and I struggle with Riku's theme, but I'll keep on trying. :-)
