This is so weird, I just got off the phone a while ago with a friend who was working with his dog to get him walking again. I'd do it too. Even one more day is great having him around.

I don't know if they would make good PTSD dogs but every time I see a Golden Retriever, I go "Awwwww". I mean the damn things look like a drooling teddy bear. A good friend had one name Emma and she was the sweetest dog, she'd walk over and lay her head on you leg and just sit there like that. I might have considered one when mine's gone but my house is just too small for that.

Here's hoping for many days ahead for all of them.

Sarg

Angle and Sarg, since we decided to turn this thread into "Animal Planet" I thought it would be a good time to update you guy's regarding my new friend.

Made friends with an old feral yellow Tabby yesterday.

Since my last post the little bugger has all but taken over my backyard and is working on the garage as we speak. Even worse than that he's slowly conquering my wife's heart (Dam, I'm still working on that myself as well) so there is no telling how this is going to end up. This boy (didn't take long to figure that out either) named MOOCH is just what the Dr. ordered I'm afraid but he's got to stay outside and my bride is on the "Oh it's so cold out there trip" already.

He's a seasoned feral, I think at some point he lived a good life with someone, some where. He's not as physically challenged as he looked from afar and may not be too old either. He has not met a door that he has not tried to get through yet. He's already figured out the cat door on the garage and he's welcome to hang his hat there for the winter. He's very friendly and will allow me to pet him but is quick to let me know when he's had enough. The wife crumbled over the weekend and bought some cat food so he immediately found a new best friend. Stay tuned!

Moooch!.webp

mooch
verb (used with object)

1. to borrow (a small item or amount) without intending to return or repay it.
2. to get or take without paying or at another's expense; sponge: He always mooches cigarettes (I hope not).
3. to beg. (meow,meow... never shuts up)
4. to steal (already went through the trash to lick the cat food pouch)
.
verb (used without object)
5. to skulk or sneak. (very stealth)
6. to loiter or wander about. (does a lot of this as well)

By definition the name works well! (He could have a touch of PTSD - his attitude can change in a nano second)

Hey Spock

Well Spunky wasn't a trained service dog by any stretch of the imagination. He was a great companion. He, and Border Terrier's in general, by virtue of their intelligence and very sensitive to what's going on around them. He just always seemed to know, and my other's as well, when I was off center. Off center, how pc is that.

A Border can be trained to be a service dog if that's what you're friend would like. They compete in arena of dog competitions from conformation, obedience, agility, go to ground, ratting in barns, lure coursing, ect.

You have dogs and then you have one that you just seem to have a special bond with, that's how it was with me and Spunky.
That's what I thought, very smart...sometimes folks can give their existing pet credit for knowing them & being a companion, if they don't need one to do some of the serious fetching and other service dog functions. When I was really amped up our Whippet knew and was concerned. He was sick himself and died early of cancer right at the worst part of my struggles so that didn't help. But, I realized that he was concerned and he still helped me even as he was slowly dying from the inside.

My wife rescued 2 standard poodles now, also smart, but the funny part is the bitch has PTSD as well from being abused and we constantly hyper-vig out each other & it is somewhat comical.

We just had a rash of guys in Group gets dogs after a long, hard search to find the right provider

Ok, I know this is a commercial but the dogs will make you smile and laugh. A kind of Rube Goldberg, see google, kind of video.

On my way into a Starbucks, I saw a dog tied at a parking meter outside. He was a small, fluffy dog, a maltese or a toy poodle or something--they all look the same to me--and he was unrelentingly humping the meter post. After I got my coffee, it occurred to me take a video but his owner had already collected him and walked off.

I'm happy that I actually slept last night! It took me awhile but after I took my magic sleepy pill I slept with NO BAD DREAMS yayyyyyy

If this doesn't make you laugh I don't know what will.

Dead Link Removed

you just gotta' wonder where they put the mic.

I had inadvertently posted this elsewhere. I can't listen to this without laughing. If you need a laugh and I seem to of late, this will help. enjoy.
