I know in the last year they talked about a "new 700 series" it might not have been just in the last year. I just started looking in to a new rifle in the last year because I can't use 5.56 to hunt in Co. I originally thought about getting a new upper receiver for 7.62 or something but I would prefer a sniper build. A big reason I was interested in the 700 is because it's cheap and I could build it up in to basically a new weapon. I am always open for different ideas though.

I had a 700 go off while slung on my shoulder. The trigger issue on the new weapons were rectified.

My personal weapons the first thing I do is replace the 700 trigger with a Timney.

Actually, the 44 isn't great for anything very long range due to low muzzle velocity. Umm I'll have to ask Porn Stache what he did to his Ruger. He turns guns into monstrosities as a hobby.

I like my weapons to be "tactical" style. Except my hand guns. If I pull the desert eagle out I want it to be the last thing you see. I also like making "builds" my AR-15 is almost completely different from when I got it. I thought about filing down the front sight and putting on a collapsible one but I think in a shtf scenario the one on it will be the best bet. (Less chance of breaking) and I didnt change the buttstock but I have always used the kind I have so I'm hesitant to change it out.
The "monstrosity" looks interesting, I don't know that I would want the rear adjuster. It seems like something to get in the way. But to each their own. Some say the stuff I have on my AR makes it front heavy.

I'll try to talk you into a Ruger 44/77 or 357/77. They're more expensive but higher quality than the Remington 700 series.
Ruger makes a very good action in my opinion. Developed from the K98. Bulletproof. Not as glassy smoothe as the 700 but close. Not sure I would care for the 44 or .357 though in a bolt. I'd rather have in a lever variant for faster follow ups.

I finally picked up a M1A Socom the other day. Always wanted one. Liked it so much I ordered a M1A loaded match.

Good choice. In training we shot the M14 and I liked it better than the M16. the AR-15 with the longer barrel I liked the most. That M14 could put a hole where it was supposed to go. The Marines got them early in the war, and I was exceedingly jealous. But it was heavy. Probably a good hunting rifle? It's 7.62.

It is a heavy weapon at 10 lbs empty for the standard. Much respect for you Nam guys who humped those day in and day out. My Socom is a 16" rifle with synthetic stock and I weighs in at 8+ lbs. empty. It is very effective out to 600-700 meters and short enough for close in work.

Yeah, we were issued CAR 15's but I did not like the short folding stock and it sure did climb a lot. I needed my hands free so I just strapped another .45 to my left lower. Kept me out of trouble.

When my wife's shows an interest in stuff I like usually guns or videogames, but there have been other things. This morning she tagged me in a picture of a gun saying she wouldn't mind that so I'm going to either look in to having that done to her XDM or I'll get her a new one eventually.

After thinking about this I realized that even though we are behind right now we are catching up and after the holidays things are going to get easier so that makes me even happier. The stress of holidays is never fun so knowing that there is a light at the end of the tunnel is extremely helpful.
