Why Did You Choose That Username And/Or That Avatar (Or No Avatar At All)?

I often feel like a wallflower, in the background and out of the spotlight. The avatar is plain and simple.

Hi Therapybankrupt here! I am always a year behind in paying therapy debt! I have had a couple of avatar's now and changed them to be different. I choose this one because I love penguins!

 

[Bilby]

My username is a nickname.

I chose that particular picture because that bilby with his ears flopped down instead of upright, looks a little fragile, a little sad, like he's had a bit of a rough trot. But he'll be alright - he's sitting on someone's hand - he's being taken care of :)

 

[Pinkcake]

My user name is pinkcake. Pink because I'm a female and I associate pink with being a feminine, pretty color and cake because I'm a cake baker.

My avatar is just a generic avatar right now. Once I get brave I'll change it to something more personal.

 

[nimkekaa]

Nimkekaa is thunder (or close to it) in ojibiwe. Right now I feel like my life is a storm.

Also one native belief is that when the Thunderbirds come (the thunder) it cleans the earth and leaves things clean and refreshed. (like how after a rain the earth is clean and the grass and trees seem greener) So I hope that when my storm is over my life will be cleaner and I will feel refreshed and ready for a new journey in my life.

Movin' On reminds me to go forwards even when I feel stuck or like I'm sliding back.

My avatar changes, but usually is one or both of my dogs. They are my anchors.

I updated my avatar, it's no longer a carefully cropped photo of me- that's Puddin Pop, a doll I met in a thrift store. After making her hair green and painting her face, she's much happier than the dusty old darling I found. If I weren't afraid of people staring or wanting to ask questions, I'd take her out with me, she's awesome to cuddle when I'm anxious or sad.

I'm still spiderallis, used the name for almost as long as I've been online- part of my real name, and my tattoos both have spider themes. So does my house really, I leave the indoor Halloween decorations up year-round.

 

[Violet03]

I chose the username Violet from a character in a movie. She is in the children's animated movie The Incredibles. Violet has the super power to be invisible whenever she wants to. She can also put a protective force field around herself so nothing and nobody can hurt her.

When I saw that movie with my daughter Violet became the person I wish I could be. I have always wanted to be invisible, and for the most part I'm pretty good at it.

My avatar is now me....a happier, smiling, fun me that existed about 6 or 8 months ago before my dad died. I want to get back to that person. I hope if I see that person looking back at me that it will be motivation to work through my PTSD.

I chose my name as I was feeling like that the first time I posted here.
The picture is at the beach in South Australia, where I spent a great day with my sis (best friend over there).

Bubba is the name of my yellow labrador. Seemed generic enough and close to home.

All of my avatars speaking to the feeling of being "invisible" - except for my cowgirl one - that one I tend to use when I'm feeling good.

My current avatar is a pink cup with "lol" on it. I chose it because I had an increadibly funny day with my best friend the other day and giggled for hours, I want to remember that day forever and hold on to those happy feelings. The "lol" reminds me of the laughing, the cup reminds of old me who had a 'cup half full' view on life and pink is my favourite colour. :)
