Back in March I was driving down a two lane street with my friend in the left hand lane. It was a rainy night and a pedestrian crossed the opposite two lanes causing me to stop for her abruptly. I quickly looked into my passenger side mirror and saw the car coming and the woman not stopping. I put my hands over my eyes and just heard the loud smash of her body against the car. My friend screamed, Oh my God Danielle she was hit! Over and over. I looked and she was approximately 15 feet away lying face down in moving. I pulled into a parking lot to the right of me, got out of the car and ran to the woman. I rolled her onto her back and she was staring lifeless with gurgling in her throat. I immediately began compressions. The woman that hit her was screaming in the background. My friend stayed in the car and called 911. A good Samaritan stopped after a few minutes and took over compressions for me. I went to speak to the driver that hit the woman. She (come to find out) was 8 months pregnant. I kept reassuring her it was not her fault and it could have been anyone.

This scared me for driving. It scared me because people just walk into traffic and it changes lives.

About a month later I was coming home from work and I noticed a car that looked just like my sister's behind me. About two miles later I heard a SLAM, looked into my rear view and saw a biker on the roof of that car, the car in from of the vehicle and I was not far ahead of that car. I had not seen that biker. I didn't stop that time.

Since now it has happened twice I'm almost waiting for it to happen again. I'm constantly paranoid. I'm worried to cross the street, drive and have flash backs. I don't know how to cope!

I feel weak and that it could have been me...or it's like final destination. Idk. Just venting I guess.

God I’m so sorry this happened to you. I know you’re not the one who was hit but I know how it feels to see someone in such acute condition and it’s honestly terrifying and can follow you for the rest of your life.
Have you talked to anyone about this?

If you don’t already have PTSD? I very strongly recommend seeking support in your life. Trauma therapists are one of many great options (more in new link following); and not only work with people with PTSD, but all trauma & stressors related disorders, as well as those who’ve gone through a trauma and help them to process it / help prevent a disorder from arising; as well as to simply help / be a source of strength.). Traumatic resilience: avoiding ptsd to help lower your chances of getting it,

If you had PTSD before the accident, or have developed it from the accident? Ditto working with a great trauma therapist, but also this >>> The ptsd cup explanation
