What am I missing here? We realeased...no, sorry not WE. Our wonderful president once again has me scratching my head. Except this time I'm pounding my fist as well. Why in thee f*ck are we negotiating with terrorists???? I don't f*ckin get it. Unless they have some top secret plan of killing those bastards, I have completely lost any faith in our government that I may have still tried to hold onto. I'm not even gonna get into the what ifs about this soldiers past or present intentions for who knows. But for gods sake look at the obvious. 5 top Taliban leaders for 1 soldier. How many of our military vets, CIA, etc sacraficed their lives just trying to catch these pieces of shit? We killed bin laden in his f*ckin house and we can't rescue one of our own in a five yr period. Do we even know for a fact that this soldier isn't working with them? We leave no man behind but what the f*ck happened in Benghazi? What the hell is happening to our country? We've all risked our lives and many lives were lost and are still being taken for this country. We fought to protect our loved ones and our friends. So how do we protect them from our own country? I don't get it. Can somebody explain to me what the hell our country is coming to? Am I missing part of the story? Am I jumping to conclusions? Am I the only one that is completely pissed off by this?

My question is how did this guy just walk away from his unit without alot of troops seeing this? In 1991 we had a staff sgt. walk away like this guy, but his entire plt. saw him, his pl saw him walk away. They already knew this guy was sympathetic to the Iraqis, they already knew he didn't believe we should be there. From what I hear, this guys (Bergdal) platoon knew that this guy was disillusioned with the war in afghanistan. I spoke to my former co yesterday, and he recalled the incident with the staff sgt. in Storm. This guy walked away and everybody saw it. My question is; If a troop can just walk away from his unit, and nobody sees him, couldn't the enemy just walk in and no one see them. If you know the guys dis-illusioned about the war wouldn't you keep an eye on him? We had alot of guys, who openly protested the war while deployed to Iraq...you can bet your ass we knew who they were and where they were at all times. Just sayin.

I know one of our lads (british) abandoned his post and walked off the FOB. Turned up dead. To be honest, me and a friend of mine used to sneak over the wall below one of our sangars to pick fresh weed that was growing just below. we would do that in broad daylight while one of us covered the gmpg. never got caught.

Same thing I am thinking.... Please... Do not think I am accusing Berghdal (SP?) but, I read a report saying that he celebrated x-mas and played badminton with the hajji's... Seriously? My distrust of Government is deep and this shit stinks to high hell of wrong doing on someone's part. And as you said brother why the f*ck would this guy leave the FOB? Maybe just Maybe he was sheep-dipped (doubtful)... or he was just not thinking right... All I am saying is a TRUE Congressional Hearing and Investigation is needed and warranted. As to the OP the Hajji's we released will get killed by drones or captured and sent back to the Hilton in Cuba

The one single thing I'm sure of after watching his full interview after being captures is that he care nothing for his Brothers in arms. These are the very guys who were willing to lay down their lives for him.

The one simple truth that all of us learned in the killing fields is you don't abandon the guys covering your back. There is no politics in war. Once you're home and back in civilian cloths you can say or do whatever you choose. But, while in uniform you have a sacred obligation to those at your side.

A combat zone is no place to argue good and bad, right and wrong. The minute warriors don't stand together is the minute they die. He was willing to let his Brothers die. It's just that simple.

The more shit I read about this the more it pisses me off. Yet at the same time I honestly want to believe that there is a bigger plan set forth for all of this. All this dirt about bagdawhatever the f*ck his name is didn't just now come to the attention of those secretive f*cks in office. There has GOT to be a big, secret plan for this. It is way to bogus to believe the men & women that run this country are that insainly stupid. Don't get me wrong, they're idiots with the wrong agenda 99% of the time but they CAN'T be THAT dumb. I got an email from a vet friend who knows someone that served with the guy. Flat out, he deserted his post and his unit. That's a fact. The rest of the stuff I'll let ride but I'd say he's not a hero by any stretch of the imagination. But understand that the gov't may give this guy a medal just to spin all this stuff up to take peoples mind off of this war. They did shit like this during 'Nam too.

Remember that stuff like this makes dealing with our own conditions way harder. Just my opinions, as always. It get to me too. We've all served, we've all done dumb stuff while we were in country. Like pickin' weed, I love that one 'cause I did that too. :rolleyes:
