Xanax Being Stopped At Age 70

I have this problem at this time. I am healing. I am starting to step out into this world again. But...

Man, your not alone.

I do have a question and I hope to get someone to answer...I have been through the mill as all of you and I take xanax. I'm going to be 69 and they threaten to take me off of it when 70. They won't tell me what would take it's place. An ideas?

There are other non addictive options for anxiety. I take buspar. It helps and doesn't leave me in a fog. I'm not sure how long you have been on it but perhaps you should make an appointment and discuss more thoroughly if you are concerned. There certainly is a withdrawl and that could be dangerous if you have other health conditions.

Do you mind me asking why 70 is the cut off time? How long have you been on it? Like @ Rumors stated, it can be a very dangerous withdrawal.... please ask a lot of questions and do you know why they are taking you off of it? Many new drugs with fewer risks of dependency and fewer side effects... please keep us updated...

To me that sounds like they're giving you a year to get used to the idea & start trying/finding other things... Rather than a threat per se. A year is a very long lead, even into a major transition.

More, when talking about a drug few doctors want patients on for more than a few months, unless used very intermittently.

Have you been using Xanax for a long time? A year to get used to the idea leads me to think this has either been years / long term regular use, or there's something else major motivating?
